For those that have repainted your engine bay, what paint did you use? and did you brush it or spray it? I am looking for something that can be brushed on that flows out well. i brushed my frame with POR15 and it looks sprayed on, so hoping for something that flows that well with a brush.
I was also thinking a flat black finish.... but haven't made up my mind yet, so let me know what you used with pictures if you got them. thanks,

I sprayed everything except the engine with Dupli-Color engine enamel. Chevy orange, low gloss black, silver. I had the air cleaner base & fan powder coated...
Check out SEM Trim Black, which is very close to the satin black GM used. It comes in a quart container though I don't know its brushing characteristics. https://semproducts.com/product/trim-black/39143
Semi-flat or satin black for firewall and under body paint.
Semi-gloss should be used for bolt on components and brackets.
Wiper bay is semi-flat/satin black [blackout] paint.
I ended up using John Deere Blitz Black Paint - TY25631 for firewall and under body paint.
John Deere Blitz Black also comes in a quart can for brush on...
I used a semi-gloss/satin black for the sides. I would just make sure not to use a matte or high gloss since it shows imperfections and oil stains easily.
As for the firewall I used a spray on bed-liner. Very satisfied with the results.
Engine bay "surfaces" paint is semi-flat black OR satin black (both have the same sheen, but different manufacturers use different terminology). I much prefer the John Deere "Blitz" black paint. Buy it a John Deere parts supply stores.
For "components" (brackets, housings, accessories, etc), use semi-gloss black paint.

Not to hijack the thread but @7T1vette, Its nice to see you chime in! I've read so many of your invaluable posts over the years and always appreciate the knowledge that you have brought to the community! Cheers!
Thanks for the nice comments, Kidster71. Wish you luck with the work on your engine bay. Here is a pic of the bay on my '71 [which has been sold to another 'lucky' Vette fanatic].
The materials available from Eastwood are pretty good quality and the restoration shop that worked on my C3 used them inside my engine compartment. They cleaned the whole engine compartment (without a Engine) first and then they scuffed up the parts and then painted them. The engine compartment looked new for 15 years after that. I have a vast collection of the Eastwood paints on my shelf as they are used in a lot of different places in the Corvette.
I used Dupli-color truck bed coating on in the wiper bay on my '80, Eastwood Underhood Matte black on the firewall. Eastwood Underhood Low Gloss on most everything else, including underside of hood sprayed with an HVLP air gun. Happy with results. Now the car is at the painter this winter getting the body painted back to original red. Woohoo!
