Tx for the note and actually I do have the 78 manual that I perused B4 I started the thread and there was some vague info but nothing directly related to the issue that I posted???
I also have the 78 Service Manual for the most common Chevys and still nothing definitive
I may be misunderstanding what you are after, but try this photo and thread. Lars has commented recently about how to properly adjust the cable so it works as it should.

The 1978 TH350 kickdown cable attach point is on the "special" lower arm on the throttle lever on a "special" stud that the cable end snaps onto, as seen in Owen's photo above.

The geometry of the throttle linkage and positioning of the pin for the kickdown cable is CRITICAL. If you have the correct linkage on your carb, great. If you don't, you will have to purchase an adaptation kit for your linkage or do some testing with the TV pressure (gauge reading) from the transmission and where the end of the kickdown cable NEEDS to be on the linkage. Figuring it out for yourself is difficult. The adaptation kit is simple and not too expensive.
Just know that it is absolutely imperative that the carb linkage end of the TV cable is in the correct position when: 1) the throttle is at idle position and 2) the throttle is at WOT position. If you don't have enough TV cable at high throttle position, you will end up frying your trans clutches. If you have too much TV pressure at low throttle position, you will have really bad range shifting issues.
Do your research on this and get it done right. Good luck.

The TH350 does not use a TV cable. It's an actual kickdown cable, and it can be adjusted and set up to provide kickdown at any point your find suitable for your driving pleasure. A misadjusted kickdown cable will not destroy a TH350, as will happen to a tranny that uses a TV cable (700-R4), where adjustment is critical.

No. TV cable and kickdown cable are not the same. The TH350 uses a kickdown cable. The 700R4 uses a TV cable. Two completely different things that operate differently. If you have a TH350 tranny, you do not have a TV cable.
