Default 1971 LT-1 engine

Anyone have an idea what a complete 1971 LT-1 engine is worth? everything except the carb. Needs a rebuild

Hello,
What the stamp pad looks like and how complete the engine is (the parts that made it a LT!) might have an impact on it's value.
Regards.......

It will have meaningful value Only to someone who Needs a year-specific gen I LT1.
To most others, it's just another worn out 350 w/ a 2-piece rear main seal, forged, mild steel crank. At best, 71 LT1 heads are ho-hum.

The engine is 100% complete minus the carb, the suffix is CGZ

Agreed, but i wouldn't be counting on selling the engine to anyone other than someone that has a 71 LT-1 missing the engine. They only made 1949 1971 LT-1s, if someone has a documented car but they are missing the engine, i would think even knowing the VIN number is different it should have substantial value. Very rare 71/72 valve covers, one year intake and cylinder heads and Transistorized ignition. Those parts aren't just laying around these days. The cars are going between 50k to 100k, Being the LT-1 engine is the key to an LT-1 car i would think it has pretty good value. My thoughts are $3500 complete with intake and distributor. I know the distributors alone can go for $1000 and the intake $500, I would think the valve covers are worth $500 also. But i wanted to hear from others that know the value of 71 LT-1 parts.

Here’s one from 2015 selling for $1500. Add a decade of inflation I think your price is fair.

I replied in your same question post you put into the LT-1 owners thread. I am with you on the parts values maybe being the way to sell it, unless you can find the guy that is missing that specific motor.

The TI distributor, correct water pump, intake, and valve covers are worth a good bit. Does it have the correct fuel pump on the engine?

Water pump and fuel pump are worth a couple hundred each as cores.
