It will have meaningful value Only to someone who Needs a year-specific gen I LT1.
To most others, it's just another worn out 350 w/ a 2-piece rear main seal, forged, mild steel crank. At best, 71 LT1 heads are ho-hum.
Agreed, but i wouldn't be counting on selling the engine to anyone other than someone that has a 71 LT-1 missing the engine. They only made 1949 1971 LT-1s, if someone has a documented car but they are missing the engine, i would think even knowing the VIN number is different it should have substantial value. Very rare 71/72 valve covers, one year intake and cylinder heads and Transistorized ignition. Those parts aren't just laying around these days. The cars are going between 50k to 100k, Being the LT-1 engine is the key to an LT-1 car i would think it has pretty good value. My thoughts are $3500 complete with intake and distributor. I know the distributors alone can go for $1000 and the intake $500, I would think the valve covers are worth $500 also. But i wanted to hear from others that know the value of 71 LT-1 parts.
I replied in your same question post you put into the LT-1 owners thread. I am with you on the parts values maybe being the way to sell it, unless you can find the guy that is missing that specific motor.
