JD, nice ride and welcome to the forums. I'm glad that people still like C3's and that the younger generations are appreciating the classic Corvette's. I had a '76 L-82 4sp for 18 years and loved it! Now my son is enjoying it while I moved up to a C5. Next will be a C7 Z06 for me. Enjoy the ride and Save the Wave!!!
FYI: As stated you bought it from a dealership, I'd be returning ASAP & asking to have these major items of concern fixed. Curious why you didn't check it out in detail especially the headlights before taking delivery ?
HEADLIGHTS MUST WORK, not sure what state you live in but that's a MUST WORK / FUNCTION SAFETY VIOLATION & will not pass inspection in New York where I live, so i'm a bit uncertain how they can legally sell you a car that fails a safety inspection from day 1 ??? Shame on the dealership for selling a car in this condition & shame on you for nor doing your due diligence. ( LSSON LEARNED ) ??? ( father in me )
BTW: Welcome to the forum & "CLUB C3" where you & your wallet will soon be separated ..........ENJOY your new ride / hope it all works out for ya !!!
I appreciate the fatherly lesson here…The headlights work. They go up and down manually and the bulbs turn on. Just a vacuum leak somewhere not allowing them to go up and down from the drivers seat. All lights work, turn signals, brake lights, etc. But yes, from what I am gathering I’ll need further work on the car which I expected. In no way did I anticipate buying a 50 years old vehicle for $10k would not cost me anymore beyond that. I do love it though. Not afraid of some TLC and taking it to a mechanic when it’s needed.
Welcome JD98 to the wonderful world of C3's.
These forums are always ready to help and the members have a lot of very valuable experience. Im an old Ford guy but after I found myself with a Chevy 2 years ago, I really found these forums to be an incredible source for advice and information.
