Picke dup a 1969 C3. The radio antenna is solid.... So its limiting how high on the lift i can store this on either lifts vs my C8 or C2.
What options do I have for a 69? would like it to still work but, even a manual one I can just push down until needed would be great. I looked and it does not seem like it unscrews like a normal car. That would work too if so?
So If i undeo that nut, I can pull the whole antenna out, down into the body. . but that will eventually cause paint issues as the mount and rubber touching the paint. So what I would like is a replacement of the mount/antenna so I can lower it or, unscrew the antenna from the mount.
As said above you can remove it. Another possible option is a collapsing antenna. There was a brief period in 1971 when these were used on Corvettes for some reason so they must work. Good luck.
A lot of C3 owners leave the nut on the mast a little loose, just finger tight.
Then it is easy to throw it in the back of the car to put a car cover on, etc.
PERFECT! So thats whats on the car, mins that last pic with the small cover. BUT its on there TIGHT, so tight i thought one peace... will try. Harder,.
Maybe some PB Blaster or something overnight then try it. I take it of my '73 sometimes to put a cover on the car. Mine may be different; I just used a wrench to loosen the big nut there. Forget what size wrench.
Mine does not have FLATs any more its marked up from Plyers, which is why i went to vise grips... but will try again with som PB, and then remove out of body, so it something slips its not close to paint...

Spray it, leave it, then hopefully loosen with ease
If you not worried about originality you can do as I have done and cut the mast to be all most level with the roof line then slide a small vacuum line over the antenna and capped it with vacuum cap. Looks like black rubber mast and since I use blue tooth not worried about radio reception even though it seems to be ok. If for what ever reason I want to change it back I will need a new mast.
No worries about going on a lift or scratching the paint trying to get the smaller nut off to remove antenna.

After having the gas cap & my rare, one year only, impossible to find 68 antenna stolen at Carlisle, I will never, ever leave the antenna hand tight parked in public again. Found another original on flea bay & it was $375 maybe mine ???
The original cable on a C3 antenna is almost 15 feet long.
And is actually part of the base. https://www.corvettecentral.com/69-7...adio-to-163023
It runs under the carpet, by the drivers seat, by the door sill, then under the dash.
Keep that in mind if doing something non original.
