Default Information please - Bump stops

Almost finished rebuilding/restoring the front end of a 69 and there are two pieces I am hoping to get some information on. They are two metal 'bump stops' that I think were also the front bolts on the lower control arm ball joints (see attached image).

If they were installed where i think they go then when the steering is fully locked in either direction, the steering arm will stop on these metal 'bump stops'. The new ball joints have two identical bolts with standard bolt heads. Trawling the internet for images of 69 front ends turns up lots of photos of cars with standard bolts on the lower ball joints.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Original lower ball joints were riveted in. That is what is circled in # 3, a rivet. Replacement ball joints have two special grade 8 bolts to hold the ball joint in. There is no "bump stop" bolt. There is a bumper assembly to keep the lower A arm from hitting the frame. I hope that this helps you. Lou.

Many thanks. Any thoughts on where these two 'bump stop' like bolts in my original post go? I see quite a few suppliers with similar bolts in their lower ball joint kits (for example see below).

Maybe this is some non-original addition to solve some problem.

I could be wrong, but I do not see how anything could hit the a frame there where they want you to put that bolt. Unless the spindle could in a turn. Lou.
