WTBorT 1973 Alternator 1100950 42A
Just trying again.
I'm still looking for a 1100950 alternator 42 amp or just the front housing with a date near 3E30 (May 30, 1973) which is my original date. I know this because I am the original owner.
I also have an late 72 or early 73 alternator core 1100950 42A with a date of 2G25 (July 25, 1972) that I would be willing to trade.
Thanks 327carguy

They are a Corvette only part and are hard to find. The date 2G25 was on many I have seen. I was told they were made in batches so the choice of dates is limited.

What is the build date of your car? I have two 73's built within 45 days of each other. One has the original 2G25 number alt (build date late March 73), the other has the 3E30 built mid May. I saw a 3E30 at Carlsile last year. The price was $350 if I recall and needed restoration. I think your older alt will fly for NCRS. They had an interesting article in the Restorer magazine they publish this month about "the 6 month window" that some use for judging. I took away from the article that that is true only a percentage of the time. If you have a 2G25 I would get it redone and use it.

to 68air, Did not know how to send this directly to you so I hope you have a chance to read it.
Thanks for the information. Like you say I have found a bunch of the early dated alternates, but none of the later ones. I was thinking if all fails I will rebuild (restore) the early on and use it until I find a later one.
PS your cars look great. My 73 is an L82, four speed, t-top with the yellow (school bus or taxi) paint and the deluxe dark saddle interior. NO air conditioning so it has the HIGH RPM red line. I'm also the original or only Owner.

Give a chance to check out an alternator/generator rebuild and restore business who specializes in hard to find alternators. I'll let you know sometime tomorrow.

I bought my 1100950 alternator from a forum member last week.
They can be pretty expensive, still not sure if I'm ever going to get my vette judged.
Call local alternator shops and have them check for you. I also looked on eBay, but within hours of the listing, someone will message the seller to take it off and sell it to them at an outrageous price.
Sooner or later you will find one, I'm still looking, and if I find another one I will post it here, not to make money, but just to help forum members out.
The one I saw on eBay was 3 months prior to my build date, the one I bought from a forum member was only 3 weeks prior to my date.
I'll be on the lookout for you.

Noting an earlier response from a responder NCRS recognizes dated components up to six months prior to the build date of the engine/car. They would like to see them about one to two months prior but not on the build date of the engine/car. So the person with the two 1100950s has two that meet that criteria particularly the May built one. At an NCRS event last year judges were going to deduct points from an owner's Corvette because the jack was dated the same month of the car's build date. They contended that the jack should have been dated at least a month prior.

I think these 1100950 alternators were produced in batches, maybe just one or two days per month, so there may be more variation (for days spread between part and car dates) in these than some other parts.
