come on now,

you know thats not the issue. Most of the things that go on here are straightforeward questions that get quick replies and drop off the map. Or people just BS-ing for a while and then they drop away. We want the unique issues that are not time sensitive to stay up front and center so people will have a good resourse to make their cars safer, faster and handle better. Thats what this place is really supposed to be about.

Isn't it?

Why am I jumping into the middle of this ?!?!

Some people might want good advice about what painting materials
to use when repairing or repainting the body. This is a BIG $$$
question ... painting the vette, but it has nothing to do with safety,
speed, or handling. Your narrow definition fits YOUR interests, not the
interests of the group.

I still contend that the resources will be dilluted by a split, and technical
questions will get even less views - due to people not visiting all the
sub-forums.
Just my opinion getting in the way. C3 will still be a great place,
but maybe not better - like many think. We'll see ....

No the point is if its a indepth tech question about how long to let urethane paint flash (how to do the finger test) between coats or whatever it goes in hi tech.

If they want to know how much it'll cost to have it done in a shop it goes in general.

You guys are twisting my words around.

Two sections:

C3 Things that take a whole lot longer.

That's fine by me although it would mean I have to spend more time clicking on screens, pulling up two different web pages. The good thing with one category is that everyone sees the thread and responses are rather quick. The problem is that some topics get on page two rather quickly. There are reasons for that. Either the question has be answered, little interest, no one has answer, or no one knows what the heck the poster was talking about.

Well I voted to split the Forum. I will continue to vote to split the forum or request that all forums ( C-4 -C-6)are treated equally and only have the one main topic, General.

That said, I would really like to keep the C-3 General Topics Section and instead of adding TECH Section, add a friggen C-3 Off Topic Section to post all of the BS in! That way there shouldn't be a problem sorting BS from General topics.

Default Please split em!

It sure would make things easier for me if the forum was split up a bit. I basically live here and even with the frequent visits I have a hard time finding things I'm looking for. Moreover, When an urgent need is posted it usually only takes a couple hours to bury it.

As Franklin D. Roosevelt said, "Try something, even if it doesn't work at least you tried something"

Here's my suggestion

1. C3 Parts for sale/free
2. C3 Parts wanted
3. C3 Vettes for sale/wanted
4. C3 Technical chat/OEM
5. C3 Performance/Upgrades/Racing
6. C3 General/Introductions/OT

After reviewing the C4 & C5 sections I can't imagine it would be very difficult to make the split

In another thread the question was raised why it took so long...the answer was it would take software modifications. I don't get it, this is just your egular vbulletin software and like any messageboard software you can add categories and subforums with the click of a button. The only thing I can think of would be the javascript menu bar on top and the style specific links on the left, if someone hard coded those and didn't have them to be built up by the existing software, like in the way it indexes the forum, it'll take the editing of a javascipt menu and 7 (c1,2,3,4,5,6 z06) styled menus on the left. How long can that take??? I think we're led by the nose here.

Not that it would be for a particular section but you could make a place where people can find out about tire sizes and specs so they know what will work. We could have it listed w/15"-20" rims. Click on whichever you are interested in and find out what will have to be done to accomplish the look your looking for. Like what backspacing you'll need for however wide rim you want and if you'll need to modify your exsisting t-arms or if it would be better to go w/offset arms. Also you can list different things you might encounter like if you go to wide and you have a rear sway bar that it will have to be removed but you can replace it w/a dual mount spring to compinsate for not having a rear bar.

I don't know if you saw my post in the other thread about the moderators not wanting to create any waves. They want to be friends with everyone and not upset anybody. They think the split crowd will go away if they just sit on things long enough. It ain't gonna happen this time so no matter which way we go some people will be upset. Suck it up and do the correct thing for the forum.

I am dedicating myself to seeing this happen. If i don't do anything else positive here on the forum or in my whole damn life in the next 10 years, i'm gonna be constant as the northern star on this issue.

There are some very influential big number posters here that would do anything to kill progress.

But i am unwavering. Aye, aye! and I'll chase him round Good Hope, and round the Horn, and round the Norway Maelstrom, and round Perdition's Flames before I give him up.
