you guys are going to make my brain bleed!
but i will defend your right to debate the split ad-infinitum
so long as you don't split it until you can decide where a newbies question about whether buying a '70 sb would look better to his mother in law than putting headers on his '78 harley.

It's really difficult to draw the line.. I'm sure that initially there will be lots of posts in the weong section... The mods will be busy for a while moving threads...
BTW, we also need a C3 Babes section

If somebody accidently posts in the wrong section I don't feel its a big deal, I plan to read both sections anyway.

Even if we only get 90% of the topics in thier proper section thats a pretty good success rate.

Leave it the way it is. Responses may not be as good if people need to read several different forums. Encourage users to create more descriptive titles.

Tech is anything mechanical or fix it type stuff. Weather stripping is tech. So are oil changes.

General is for everything else. For example this thread would be general.

If you put something general in tech, that would be a no no.

if you put a tech in general thats ok, its just not the best place to get an answer. I think TECH would be the most used portion by far.

I plan on reading both too, just right now too many posts are coming in per minute, that new posts I havn't read yet get pushed too quickly to the 2nd, 3rd page etc. With two sections, that would remedy that situation. There are just too many CF users - not!

It was a gorgeous day today and I decided to head out for a drive. Had a little trouble starting... of course the vette has been sitting for 3 months... How do you start it up after sitting for 3 months? Any special techniques? Give it a shot of marvel mystery oil? Maybe I should reconnect my choke? How would I go about that anyway? So I pull out of the garage and I see several small pools of fluid on the garage floor... one red, one black, one clear... wonder what the heck that is? Any ideas? So I head down the street and my left rear wheel falls off!!! holy crap!! No problem, I just jacked her up... oh, man, where does that jack go again? and put the wheel back on...how tight should I torque those lugs? What type of torque wrench is the best to buy anyway? So the vette is running great but it feels a little squirrely on the highway! I am running some really wide tires, and the highway has some major grooves in it but still, seems like I have to turn the wheel from noon to 3 oclock before the car decides to turn. Is there anyway to adjust the steering? Think I need an alignment. How do I do one of those? It started to rain so I stopped and put the top up and the damn thing ripped!! How do I replace the top? And the interior got pretty wet before I could get the top up and I got a lot of leakage around the drivers side door plus there was a lot of stinky water on the p/s floor... any idea what that is? So it started out as a beautiful day for a drive....oh, and sorry if I posted this in the parts for sale section!!

my wish is for a "high tech" section where you post questions over and above the mundane so called tech questions that get asked 1,000,000 times and tends to bore everybody to death.

I've been a member for a couple of years and the same old sh** is getting old. When our technical gurus post something really cool it just gets lost in the noise and thats a damn shame.

Let's split it front to back. Forward of the firewall and aft of the firewall. That way you can ask in either section what backspacing to get for your 17 inch wheels. Just be sure that you put the rear wheels in the rear section and the front wheels in the forward section.

KILL OFF TOPIC IF YOU NEED MORE SPACE!

I'm not going to define what goes where, it's already been stated. There will be some postings in the wrong group. Big Deal. Many members will be checking out both groups to some degree. No member should think he has the right to flame someone if the post is in the wrong group. The way I see it is that we will now have two Page 1's and much easier to see current threads. Common sense by the poster should dicate where it gets posted. This is not much different than a carb guy posting how to tune his BG or holley and posting it in the C6 section. I would think that over 80% of the new post will be put in the right forum. Some will be in that 'gray area', some will inadvertently be posted in the wrong section, and there will be some who intentionaly do it.

This is probably the only sucessful corvette forum on the web, why screw with it, have a rule in the title of every post you have to label it "tech" or " general" etc.. so you dont accidentaly reads a post that you dont want to, we should be happy and not so uptight about it, most forums hardly get any new post daily or sometimes weekly, I think we should have a section somewhere on the forum that has the answers to the questions that is asked regularly such as :wheel and tire size, putting a custom sterio in a c-3, etc... that way for example if you want to put 17 or 18 inch wheels on your car you can look in that section and see what back spacing etc.. instead of asking the same questions over and over, it would also help if the search button worked correctly, just my 2 cents, DAVEWSC

I think it's a bad idea to split. The C3 group is not that large and there aren't that many postings. I just do the simple thing...if the topic doesn't interest me...I go to the next one....etc.
