That sux!

However as has been said, glad your OK as the car can be rebuilt/replaced. I know it hurts now, but it will get better.

Good Luck!

I do not think they will try and screw you; however, they will only try and pay what they they think is a fair price for the car. There are many people who have an emotional attachment with a vehicle. A corvette probably has more of an attachment than most other cars. The insurance company only wants to pay for the car not the emotion someone may have with it.
If it is indeed her fault, evidence, and witness statements confirm it, I would expect her insurance company to move to settle this rather quickly. I would talk to your insurance agent and find out how an insurance company determines the value of a car. A car such as this has pricing that varies significantly depending on the condition of the car. I would try and find a couple of cars in similiar condition so you'll have an idea of what it will cost to replace yours.

Default Try New Orleans for driving

I fully understand driving in La. I also live in La and have lived in La Calif. I drove on the track last weekend with 14 other vets and felt safe. Then I drove home from Raceland La on Sunday afternoon. It was more dangerous at legal speeds in La. from the race track to home than it was on the track.

Sorry about the loss of the vet and glad noone was injured.

La driving?

Remember,, the yellow light means hit the gas .
The red means,, you were last to cross .

Merge on the interstate. Just force the car in the right lane to move over don't worry about the left lane .

Ok,, little humor,, but best of luck and drive defensive,,, at least on the public highway. On the track..

She escaped without injury?? Why'd you let THAT happen?!?!?!

Stupid people should be shot when they pull crap like that, Sorry for your loss bud but don't be down and out yet, The vette might be recoverable!!, If not then make sure her insurance buys you another one in BETTER condition than the one you lost.

Man that sucks.

I'm glad everyone is ok and I'm very sad to hear about the Vette. I hope everything works out and you get your Vette back on the road soon. We're pulling for you.

I'm sure your neck, leg and arm are starting to give you some problems so you might want to consult a doctor & a personal injury lawyer....

Life is more precious than a car...the vette is repairable/replaceable, life is not...

Glad no one was hurt and you and the young lady escaped serious injury.

Thanks for the support guys. It really helps to check back here and read words of encouragement especially when all you hear from everyone else is how bad you are gonna get it. I would like to respond to a few posts as a group here. I did call an old fraternity brother who happens to be an attorney. He said the police report should be ready to pick up in 4-5 days, I also have tried to contact another fraternity brother who is an ins adjuster however the cell number was not his so I will call him at home tonight. I did not get a ticket so I assume she did; the trooper told me it was obvious what happend. I also have the name and number of 2 witnesses who will back me up so I think I am ok there. As per lawyer I will be going to the doctor. The local officer on the scene said mine was the 5th wreck called in since 5:00 when he came on. My wreck happed about 5:35.

Jimcork1- I loved the jokes. Humor really is the best medicine and besides if we wanted to be taken seriously all the time we would drive hondas. Thanks guys and I will update when I know more.

You have my sympathy as well. From the looks of your avatar, you had one beautiful ride. Hopefully, things won't be as bad as they seem. Bottom line, though, is no one was seriously hurt. I wish you the best of luck.

I always hate to hear these kinds of stories. We all put a lot of effort into our cars and driving them is a reward. I believe I would try to have her insurance company buy me a replacement if it is totalled. When mine was totalled, thier insurance paid me for pain and suffering even though I did not ask for it. I just wanted my car back.

Good luck and keep us posted on the outcome.

Take care. And get legal advice. I hope you have "agreed value" insurance. If you have "stated value" then get ready for a battle. A Chevrolet car of that vintage has no value according to accountants. But don't let them get you on that. Do a NADA search etc. to back up your claim. Receipts on purchases and upgrades are useful as well. But expect a challenge on those. Performance upgrades for a classic car normally detract from its value rather than enhance.
