Your lawyer already sent you to the doctor - smart move ! The insurance company is likely trying to settle asap to avoid high lawyer and doctor fees...
If they try to screw you on the value, then you can sue for the personal injury and your pain.... if they are fair you can be fair....

good luck - BTW, not all insurance adjusters are bad guys....

Sorry to hear your bad luck. I know if it happen to me a part of myself will probably dies in the dicht with the car. "Dont tell my wife" but if i had to chose between the two i will probably miss my wife. That why i had my vette professionaly aprase to her true value. This way there's no dispute.

I think if you spent 20k on your car you should get 40k.

You put money into your car, and ALOT of time...Think of all the ours you spent on it, and multiply it by what a usual mechanic charges per hour...Don't go down without a fight! And good luck

Here's a lesson I learned several years ago when my wife and (then baby) daughter were hit in her mini-van...the other guy was at fault and his insurance company offered a cash settlement real quick. Not knowing any different, we took the cash settlement - I'm not one to attempt to take advantage of the system. However, two years later when we were trading in the van we had to disclose that it was in an accident. We ended up taking a major hit on depreciation because of the accident even though it was repaired with factory parts at a dealer and all that. Moral of the story, I should've gotten more money to capture that depreciation cost and I'm sure the insurance company knew that. Somewhat of a different situation in your case but look down the road from a medical perspective AND a property perspective – don’t take advantage of the system but don’t cut ‘em a huss either!

Glad your OK.

Hey guys, I talked to my adjuster buddy last night and he suggested that I not make them mad right off the bat. I am not the confrontational type but I will not run either. I learned a long time ago that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. He said that when someone throws the lawyer in his face right off the bat he puts on the gloves and says lets rumble because he knows this person is going to play the game with the insurance co. He suggested giving the co until Monday to contact me them call them, do not pizz off the adjuster right off the bat, get sale ads and prices for comparable cars, and receipts from repairs etc.

Imo and the wrecker driver's the frame is definately bent because the front suspension is pushed over to the right along with the radiator meeting the fan. I am going to get pictures at lunch if I can figure out my wifes camera so we may have pics tonight. Part of me wants to rebuild it but part of me wants to cut my loses and start over. I think their offer will help determine this. I am a do it yourself type but frame straightening is not within my ability and the project would take too long since this was my daily driver.

The other side of this story is the effect on the wife and kids. The wife would like nothing better than for me to drive up in an armored truck as a replacement and the kids seem to be more affectionate and appreciative of dad (wont last long). I have never had a loved one in a bad wreck so I can't relate the feelings you get when you see the crashed car. I really know how much they care now. I will say that just because the cars are fiberglass doesn't mean they are any less safe imo. For taking a hit at 50 mph I am amazed at how well the old girl held together. I still feel totally safe in a vette!!

It was aprased 4 years ago for $ 14000.oo CDN. since then a did some mod but i still think it's under valued. but around here the market for corvette is not very high. There's a guy here ,is asking $ 16000.oo for his '79. If he get's that mine will probably have a selling price over $ 20000. But i think i got a fair value for around here. As for safety a vette is almost build like a race car. You got a big frame and a big roll bar who's under the fiberglass roof, just over your head and when you hit something all the pieces fly all around insted of crushing you in the car.

Kevinator80..glad to hear no one suffered any life threatening injuries and that you and the other driver are o.k...so to speak. Have been in your shoes..actually since I was about 18 ...5 times..wrecks suck and you never really come out ahead. Just a note of encouragment..my family will be keeping you and yours in our prayers.. and pray for a speedy recovery to not only your injuries but to the vette repair/replacement and that all goes smoothly for you..God Bless you and yours and hope all works out.

My mom and dad..have always told me..." There is your plan and there is God's Plan.....and your plan don't count." I am sure He will see you through all this..take care...Joe!

I now have photos. My wife and I don't know how to post them to the thread. I think we were able to upload them to the forum but that is about all I know. If someone could give some instructions she could probably get them on here. On my way in to work this morning I did find the portion of the front end that the front emblem is on. It was about 90 feet away from the impact, should make a conversation piece.

Hey den, the pics are in my gallery but have been pending approval since last night. I used the forum instead of photobucket. What should I do now?

I always put my pics on photobucket. It's fast and simple. No approval time. Sometime you want to send a pic fast,it's the way to do.

Your car looks so much like mine, that looking at pics of the wreck gave my wife and I the creeps. Again, we hope things work out for you. Take care.

100% me and my family are sad to hear about what happened and you will be in our prayers as well and i hope everything turnes out for the best. sometimes bad things happen so that something good can come along and i hope that something good comes along for you sense it sounds like your girl "vette" is gonna be a total loss.
