You may be lucky and find a good reliable 74-82 C3 for under 10K but I doubt it. I paid $6500 for my 75 and have put over 5K with me doing almost all the work into the mechanicals (new engine, suspension, bearings etc. etc.) to try and make it reliable. In my opinion you should wait until you have about 15K and your goals will be much more realistic. Good luck!

Ok... it'll take me about 2 weeks to make the extra 5k. In the meantime, if anyone sees a vette under 15k that would be reliable for a while, please tell me.

You keep using this word "reliable."

That's okay, but you've also got to be willing to learn what's going on under the hood. You'd be surprised how many times I've spotted a problem and solved it before it became a major issue...simply by opening the hood and taking a good look around!!!

I am willing to learn. By reliable, I mean that it's not going to break down every month. If I have to make repairs, I'd like them to be minor, few and far between.

Like the man said find a C4. You are young and getting a c3 would be a chance to learn a great deal about cars.

Get what you want!!! learn along the way...........in 10 years your $8000 honda or mazda will be long gone....but your vette will be worth more than you paid (probably not more than you invested though)............plus many years of cool factor.............

There's a nice 78 just offered for sale on another site. It's been completely restored and has custom paint (ghost flames). He's asking $14,500 (California) PM me if you want more info.
