Default Tuned port injection help

I just bought this setup: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=7961658795

...and was wondering what else I need to get it running. I also just bought a complete gasket set for it as well. Obviously I need the wiring harness, but what about fuel pump, etc.

Thanks

Youde be better off getting a harness from painless or somebody like that,id used a factory harness myself and modified to fit my 73.As far as fuel pump you could get an inline pump and mount it to eh frame inthe back ,youll should also run a 3/8 feed line and a 5/16 return line going back to the tank.I used a sending unit from a 89 truck and modified to the top of my tank and used a walbro 255 pump.Ask as many questions needed, there are plenty on here that will help out and have done it already. Also since y ou went maf setup ,youll need to get an air filter to fit.
Also it was a 350 car right? and one more thing youll need a is a knock sensor for the 88 too and a fuel pump relay and esc.

Yes, painless wiring harness makes the most sense.

Fuel pump... I mounted mine in the spare tire carrier area and ran stainless lines to the engine and back. Lines were probably the hardest part (and time consuming). Harness is fairly easy once you decide where to mount the ECU. Mine is under the glovebox area.

You will need an 02 sensor. Bung welded into the collector(or pipe if running stock). This is mandatory. I am running speed density so I have a VSS sensor that needs to be hooked to the tranny (I piggybacked opn the mechanical speedo.

Youo will also need a temp sender. Mine is at the water pump. (This is in addition to your sender for the center gauge.

Throttle position sensor - on the throttle body... make sure you have a voltmeter to get this set right.

It really is pretty easy... take your time and ask questions.

Did you get injectors???? If not you will need them as well. I think stock injectors were rated at 18#, I originally ran 24#, now runing 30, but I am not using the Chevy ECU anymore.

Good Luck

Check out a site called jaguars that run. He has alot of info for the installation to TBI/TPI into S10 trucks and other cars. I used him for all the tech data I needed when I installed a TPI in my S10 4X4 Blazer. There is alot of info also at arizona speed and marine, and other that I can't think of right now

Ok, just to make sure I got it all......

Wiring harness
3/8 feed line
5/16 return line
fuel sending unit (I've heard a 82 corvette sender will work?)
O2 sensor
Temp sensor
Throttle position sensor

Anything else? Where do you install the temp and knock sensors?

Thanks

Add a Vehicle Speed Sensor to your list. Search for VSS here on the forum-- there have been a few post about them. I'm in the middle of preparing all my TPI parts for installation too. I decided to polish the plenum myself, which has added to the total time required for thie installation, but it gave me something to do while I waited for the brown truck.

Good luck-- I'll be interested to hear how your installation goes. I'll be doing mine soon, and can use all the tips and tricks you learn along the way.

Have a question about my cam. I'm not sure which cam is in it, but I know its larger than stock. My car presently has a very loppy idle. Would I need to change this as well? And do I really need a knock sensor? I thought you only needed one on a speed density setup. Should I block of the EGR or leave it?

sd and maf use knock sensor's .You need to know what cam you have, but maf setups like changes better then sd systems.im using a zz4 roller cam in mine with a custom chip and it idles actually pretty good lopey but good.

One more question for you (even though it's not my thread )-- how much of a problem are roller rockers with the knock sensor? I know I can go and reprogram the knock sensor values (I'm going to use a Prominator rather than burn a chip), but I don't want to have to totally disable the knock sensor just because I have roller rockers.

Thanks,
Bob

The speed sensor screws onto your transmission ,remove your speedo cable and screw this on it then screw the speedo cable back on to the speed sensor, youll have 2 wires coming off of that.
The knock sensor screws into the block, youll see a small plug in the bottom of the block near the oil pan rail just above the oil pan, remove that, and screw the knock sensor into it.

Go to this website and read it.itll help.

I have cruise control, would the speed sensor be able to be hooked up there, or does it have to hooked up at the tranny? Just seems like it would be easier to put it there?

Yes, Jags That Run shows that on their website with a warning to be sure you have good cables so the signal doesn't bounce around.

PRF-60115 speed sensor

ks-7 knock sensor from advanced auto or parts america

and for the 02 sensor if your using headers you should use a heated 3 wire o2 sensor,i got a bosch from advanced for like $39.00.

i just looked at your ebay ad,the tps is already there and so is the coolant sensor.
