There aren't just a few... There a lot of Grand Nationals with the TH200R4 that run 9's... Even cars with 800+ HP have been successfully using the 200R4..

I'm doing the HOT ROD POWER TOUR 2006 from Orlando to Englishtown. Do you want to cruise along (with the '68). There will be LOTA badass pro-street cars and everything else doing the tour. We can book the hotels and cruise up together. 300 miles per day. I think that would be cool with the 2 C3s making LOTA noise cruising up the highway.

The funny thing is that I have success with my setup and you still insist that you are right... Just because most other people don't go the same route as I do doesn't mean that I do things the wrong way...
Like the lemmings.. One lemming jumps down the cliff and others follow.. Just because they jump doesn't mean that it's the only right thing to do... There are many ways to reach goals... My goal was to have a street drivable car that runs 10's at the track and 9's on spray (if I'll add it).. and the car will do exactly that.. End of discussion - period... At the end of drag racing season, I'll tune the car for pump gas and make a trip to Old Town to proof that the car is drivable on pump gas..

How many days would I have to take off work?? If it's 300 miles per day, that'll be probably over a week for the round-trip... Can't really take that much time off..

I'm sure that I'm going to own a Grand National one day... Right now, I don't have space for any more toys

Might build a house with a 4 - 5 car garage

I am NOT attacking Oliver. If it sounds that way (to you) then you take it the wrong way. I do not think Oliver thinks I am/was attacking him. Sometimes when we talk on the phone it gets even worse. You see he would call me up and ask me questions (because I've "been there done that" with my car) all the time when he was doing all these changes. So I would make suggestions and he would tell me that is no good or I'm doing it this way. So I asked myself "Why the f**k does he ask me?" But that is Oliver. and people who know him personally will tell you he is a GREAT guy and has a big heart but a head like a brick.

I have asked you for technical advice how to do certain things and not what parts you think that I should use
I make my own decision on what parts to use. The only things I asked were technical and not what parts to use...I never asked you for that. I have great success with the parts that I chose....
Now you come to all the threads that I post in and try to tell me what I should've done and what parts I should've used..
Looks like you are just having a hard time to see that I'm having success with my choice and parts...

I did not say anything about what parts to use. You asked me how to DO certain things and then you said no I am going to do it this way. I have NO PROBLEM with the way you do anything. But why ask me if you already have in your head the way you are going to do it.

Also, I am very happy for you, the way your car is running for you now. LOW 11's. I have met my goals that I had set for my car. I do NOT compare my car to yours in any way, by any means (not in a bad way). My car is NOT a race car (I keep reminding you).I have no intensions of making the car any faster. I fact, Saturday I am entering a car show at Lake Worth Beach and then hope to see you at the Challenge.

I kind of have to agree with norm on the stubborness part, Olivier you do post questions here also and when people reply you almost always have a reply as in "no that won't work because yadda yadda" or "no I don't want to cut up my car" "I don't want to mess up the paint" " I feel what I have now is better"....and so on... Every now and then I thought to myself, why the hell is he asking if every bit of advice is turned down, if you know it so well why ask. I'm also unsure about what you want with your car, sometimes it's a full fledged race car, now it's a race & street car again... what is it ? Not saying you can't do it your way, if you want to do it this way more power t you, jsut asking for advice and then turning all advice down is a bit of weird if you ask me.

When I post a question, I get several answers with different waus of doing things.. I cannot follow all the advice because some of the advice suggests do do things different than another poster suggested... For example the diff change... Someone suggested to drill holes and access the bolts that hold the diff and drop the diff without dropping the x-member. Others suggested to use a 5 foot breaker bar on the crossmember to get it off.. I went with the first method...and then got critizized that the holes, which aren't visible with the carpet installed aren't nice
I always try to go the way that creates less effort to do things even if the result isn't estetically perfect...

I'm not talking about the holes, I'm talking about a lot of other things, it really doesn't matter I just wanted to illustrate that I kind of knew where norm came from w/ his reply. I'm not saying you should do stuff the way someone else says. However I do feel that you are creating unneccessary problems by not making up your mind, make the car a full strip car and forget about the street, think speed and think about looks later. It's not like your body is unmolested as it is (2 notches cut behind seats for roll bar, damage from flying hard top...) so why not go all out on it? Like w/ the hood clearance, buy a scoop, cut the hood and fab it so that you can bolt the scoop to the hood w/ the bolts on the underside, then you can remove it if you want and have it painted seperately from the rest of the car.

As for the holes, I don't think anyone critisized drilling holes (I wouldn't be allowed to comment, I have cut man sized holes in the rear )but the execution of the work, by not using a hole saw and using your dremel you made, what would potentially be an easy job that could also easily be executed nicely w/ minimal cost and easy to get tools into a total bubba hack job. Still it's your car, I would just have done the holes differently but it can easily be fixed.

Norm, I should be able to make the Challenge... It all depends if I'll have a chance to get the new intake on this week...but I should be able to... Maybe I'l even get some wheel spacers and will try the "brake" after being eliminated in the event...

I might still go with the scoop.. Haven't decided yet... For now, I'll keep the car a street driven drag car.. The car is too much fun to just use it exclusively at the track...
We have lots of local Cruises that I drive my '68 to...
When I drive around town, I'm not using the scratched hardtop...

It's interesting that there are 4 pages in this thread and hardly anybody posted about the subject of this thread, a tranny governor mod by changing the spring. That information could be helpful for anybody looking to change their shift points with automatic valvebody..
