modified shift points - track result.

After my new governor refused to shift last Sunday, I replaced the spring in it with the spring from my old governor.
Just made my first pass with the modified governor. It shifts a little lower then I'd like the tranny to shift but 1000 rpm higher than it used to shift with the old governor. The tranny shifts now exactly at 6000 RPM (5000 with the stock governor).
I picked up over a tenth at the 1/8 mile and .15 at the 1/4 mile compared to runs in the same conditions. (88 degrees with high humidity)
Ran 7.11 1/8 mile and 11.23 1/4 mile @118.56 mph. That's great for a hot summer day.. With another 500 RPM higher shift points and the new intake which I'll install soon, I could hit 10's in summer...and mid 10's in winter

but 7000 seems like an option... I could pick up another tenth...

I spun, so my ET was only in the 11.30 range. However, my mph was at 120 mph which is incredible for a hot and humid day...

1) lighter
2) eats less HP
3) better gear ratios
I'm not under time pressure to hit 10's.. There's no doubt at all that I'll hit 10's.. maybe even this summer. It will be possible to get the shift points where I want them and still will have a automatic valve body.
I also finally got some decent R/T's with my setup: .012, .061 and .077..
For the next months, I'll be tweaking engine and transmission..and I predict high 10's in summer and mid 10's in winter
.I'm extremely satisfied with my engine.. It's a real beast with a great power band
. Except the shift point which I will get where I want it, I'm also very pleased with the TH200R4... Other than the shift point, the tranny is excellent. Love those gear ratios..BTW, the new governor was modified for the spring not to pop out, so I won't have to worry about it to pop out
.So far, I have close to 40 passes on the 200R4 and it holds up excellent..

If I would go with over 800 HP, the glide would be my choice... For my current setup, the TH200R4 is adequate.. It has held up good and should last for the rest of the seasn... It would be great if it would hold up for 2 seasons...

That would bring the weight down to 2000 lbs or so.. I've got a friend with a '78 tube chassis Vette that weights about 2000 lbs

He is running a glide and gets 1.40 60' times and low 10's on engine with about the same horsepower that I have...

Why didn't you get an aluminum block?
