Not going to run NOS (it's illegal here even, having a bottle in the car is instant failure since the vessels are not pressure tested/certified conform the rules here)
I'll check out the jaz seats, I have seen some of their stuff (the plastic fuel cell, decided it wasn't for me) I don't have original door panels, just panels w/ a door hangle and the lock switches, nothing else (arm rest)
With a cage the seats that normally fit no long fit. The angled side bar really takes away space for the seat. Also seat width is very important.
I hauled many seats home from the speed shop trying to get something that fit with the cage and my cage is real tight to the door and I couldn't find anything that fit.
As for comfort what if you are going even a 100 miles?? It will require at least an hour in the car and a seat that uncomfortable is not practiacal.
I would look more at comfort then at a total race seat just to say it is a race seat and looks racy.
If you are going to really drive this car you need some comforts.
100 miles? I'd be on the other side of the country I will be able to sit in those kirkey seats for a hundred miles no problem. I don't think they are uncomfortable, litevette has them and I haven't seen him complain about it. I don't care one bit for comfort so if it means driving hundreds of miles in a noisy, cramped car..so be it.
have you checked into the corbeau seats?
these will fit with little to no problem. I have them and i found that
It was perfect by just bolting the seat right down using no rails.
With the slider attached to the bottom it still provides enough clearance
to be able to slide the seat back and forth.

I wouldn't put any stock in anything litevette does or says. He doesn't drive his vette, he drives a toyota.
We'll have to do a "i told you so" later like you say to grandsport.
I don't think so you won't have to tell me "I told you so" guaranteed
You can say now you don't care about comfort, it doesn't matter but if you really drive that thing across country it gets to you. A couple of hours without padding, well padding you can't control and you get sore.
If you are not comfortable the ride is not as enjoyable.
Alot of noise, rough suspension and uncomfortable seats are not going to make for a fun ride.
I will spend 3 hours in my car Wednesday night and I want all the comforts I can get.
I'm probably going to use Kirkey Ultra Light seats, these stockers are for the birds. No insulation but I will use carpet, I think it looks ratty without carpet because the floor boards are ugly wrinkled from the stamping process and I don't feel like cutting it out and replacing with a clean bead rolled floor, way too much work.
Yes, it's a 5 gallon dry sump tan. The feed and return lines (both -16) will run under the console tucked away to the side.
The stereo system sits forward of the firewall )
Speed Direct sells custom aftermarket seats just for C3 Vettes. www.speeddirect.com

Good looking progress on your Corvette. You might consider using Ultra-Shield seats for your car. They are light aluminum and you can have them custom built to fit your physique. As seen in the picture you can buy covers for them that might help the comfort a "little".

I'm friends with some Ford engineers that ran the "One Lap of America" (formerly, the Cannonball Run.). They had a racing seat (and 5-point harness) installed in the Lincoln LS they ran and I asked them about the comfort during the transit stages (~1500 miles per day). Every one of the guys in the three-man team agreed that the racing seat was the best seat in the car. Now, I have a Lincoln LS as my daily driver and the factory seats are damn comfortable and supportive. I did 400 miles at a stretch last weekend and never felt the need to get out and stretch or shift my weight or change seat settings. For them to say that the racing seat was superior in comfort means something. One of the guys was ~5' 10" and 225 lbs. The other two are tall and lanky...maybe 6' 2" and 200 pounds.
The seat was a Sparco, but I don't know the model #.
Litevette just told me he and everyone that has driven w/ him says the kirkeys are surprisingly comfortable (not that I'd care if they weren't ) so I'm set on it..it will be those seats or those ultra shields... I want alu seats and not sparco, sabelt, momo or whatever they sell here because the whole ricer crowd is using those.
It just occurred to me to ask, have you even driven a race car on the street before TT? I know you've driven gokarts (presumably not on the street )
I have a friend/coworker who used to work for a racing school known as Car Guys. He drove up and down the east coast in his interior-less, stiff, heim-jointed 5.0 Mustang going from track to track for years. He got sick of it, of being constantly battered by the car. But if it says anything, he's currently finishing a LTD wagon around the same drivetrain/suspension to drive on the street again! Seats are of the type I mentioned before, the type current roadracers use.
When I say we and our customers use these seats I'm not talking about streetracing Hondas!

No, mine bolt directly through the floor without pedestals. WIth my son's height I couldn't even have any adjustable seat tracks. I've seen mounts that bolt to the floor and then through the side of the seats, which allows you to move the seat forward and back by just moving some bolts into different holes
I bought the 20 degree layback roadrace seats.
One downside of the seats with the shoulder brace is that it's hard to turn to look to the rear when backing up.

I've driven the go kart on the street also (abandoned highway) but never a race car. There's no such thing as a racing school here, there's 1 advanced driving school that sort of meets the criteria but the cars you can drive there are a joke.
The ricer crowd here all have those seats, seriosuly..that's one of the reasons why I don't want them.
Ol Blue, I mean this pedestal, pictured under the seat.

THe only time that I've seen the pedestals used was in a guys shop where he used race seats for furniture. I think they are for display purposes as crossedflags77 says.
