guys,
i have a real bad bog when i'm giving it more than about half throttle and it changes gear (auto),
it momentarily feels like it's gonna die then it picks back up,
had the carb built by lars about a year ago,
got the timing about right,
while i was playing with the timing the problem was the same all the time even with different springs/weights and vac can,
none of the change in timing settings seemed to make a difference,
anyone any ideas?????
thanks,
natt
Did it start doing this all of a sudden? When it bogs is it blowing black smoke . . . would mean to much fuel. If its not smoking when this happens I'd say its not enough fuel. Is it just from a stand still or no matter when you punch it.
sorry guys,
just realised i haven't explained properly,
it's not as i actually put my foot down,
it's when the car changes gear (auto) i don't actually give it more gas, my foot stays in the same place,

Try tightening up the secondary airvalve windup spring. If I set the carb up, it should be set at about 3/4 turn. If it's anything less, re-set it to 3/4. If it's correctly set to 3/4, tighten it to 7/8.
Sounds like float level is set too low, when accelerating, in particular after a hard shift (first to second), the momentum causes the fuel in the "quadra-stall" carburetor, to pull to the rear of the fuel chamber. The float is still held closed so no additional fuel enters the chamber, and the jets are starved momentarily until deceleration allows the fuel to return to the jets. Just my guess, but something to consider.
