why not disconnect the fuel line and crank the car for a measured period of time and see what kind of flow you get out of the fuel line? actually measure it ...and then compare flow/time...
Bob, I'm a freekin HOBBIEST! I dont know squat about flow/time...It sounds like some sort of math problem to me....I hate math. I spent the better part of my college career trying to aviod math! I'll just spend the $30 and throw the old pump into the garbage. It's not shiny anymore so Imight as well swap it out...thats what real Hobbiests do...

amen brother.....use a really long ratchet extension from the wheel well for one of the bolts and rememember there is a bolt in front of the engine that you can take out and put in a longer bolt to hold the fuel pump push rod in place
Looks like the Hobbiest fixed his car...without cutting a check!
I tried another coil, took for a road test and had the same problem. So it wasnt the coil.
Removed the plugs, they all looked good. No obvious problem.
Re checked dwell. It was right on 31. It hadnt changed.
I re-checked the secondary wind up spring. It seemed very loose. I adjusted it per Lars instructions. Took for another road test and the problem disappeared.
I'm guessing it was the wind up spring being too loose.
Either way, it runs like it should now.

I'm dealing with this same problem on my 80... Has an edelbrock thunder 650 with upgraded MSD Dist/MSD Coil and MSD Digital 6.
One of the earlier posts notes a member's car that ran fine while cold (so does mine!)...once warm it really hesitates under full throttle around 4000 and up RPM. Coil?
Also, the Edelbrock Thunder has a secondary spring loaded valve...could this be the issue...I haven't changed anything on this since it ran fine!
i once had a friend who had the same problems in another car, check the actual plug wires for a warn spot. possible you are grounding out a cylinder or two.

It's the adjustable windup spring for the secondary airvalve on a Q-Jet. Its adjustment is critical for proper tip-in of the secondaries since its tension determines the fuel shot the secondaries deliver upon opening (like a secondary accel pump). If the tension is inadequate, the car will fall on its face instantly upon secondary opening due to a lean-out condition.
Whatever else is happening, it sounds like your plugs are fouled. Pull a plug, and you'll get more info about the problem. Anything unusual coming out the exhaust?
