I am planning to compare Art Carr to Bowtie for the 200-R4. I know Bowtie has a cross member to make the swap easier.

Any other good trans builders that do the 200-R4? Lots do the 700-R4 but it requires the drive shaft to be shortened.

Who should I use for a converter?

I just had a 700R4 put in mine, I love it. It cost a quite a bit. But I had it built to the max. Parts alone came out to about 2k(i know, i know). The shop that I went to builds every thing(they even had a military hummer they were working on). I talked to the builder and told him what I wanted and he gave me the pros and cons of the different trans. My main request was 1st that I wanted the car to BANG through the gears, and 2nd to handle lots of power. Now I just need to get a engine with power.

FYI: I believe the original owner of Art Carr now runs a transmission shop named California Performance Transmissions.

just an FYI

Oh yeah, I purchased the linkage kit from bowtie, and highly recommend it(espically if you don't know how to set up the proper geomitry for the linkage, which I don't .

Talked to the people at Art Carr on Friday. They have a fair deal going right now. The 700-R4 and 200-R-4 are both on special for this month. About 2000 out the door for a trans good to 450 hp including a lock up converter custom stalled to your motor/tire size/rear gear. Converter lists for 540 on thier site. It also includes the TV cable and linkage. According to the guy I talked to all I would need is a new crossmember or modify mine and speedometer gears.

KJL, how much for the rear gear change? Who is best to get gears for an 80 rear end? They are a lot harder to find than the 79 and earlier units.

I hope to make a final decision by next Monday and get the ball rolling.
