Pat is working on adapting his to work right now. I didn't think I was going to be able to make it work (I can't weld) so I went went undercar instead. Sometimes I miss my sidepipes.

Who's Pat? How far did Pat get? I think I remember reading a post(maybe his) that was posted a while back that said that he wants to use the side pipes. I guess that it's adaptable then. That's good.

I have a LS1 C3

Un-conventional... CARB STYLE ... I could have injected it for the about the same cost... But I am different. And I get all kinds of Looks.

I spent about 6K on mine. I am out of cash now... so I am saving again. But it runs and drive (no hood) I have a power draw that I can't seem to find. I think the dome light... it has mind of its own.

Mine is mounted to the TH350 with a conversion bushing and flex plate from HUGHES. I got my converter from HUGHES ALSO 3000 stall 10in, S&P engine mounts, custom water neck...whole setup has been move about 1 inch from factory location. Modded driveshaft.

I am running a .581 lift comp cam also. With 6.0L heads (shaved) and 00 corvette block about 20K miles... f-body accessories, F-body oil pan, New style water pump 04 (i think), LS power steering pump (modded to work with factory C3 steering setup), C5 exhaust manifolds with MAD chamber exhaust. I am running factory radiator with LT1 F-body dual electric fans.

I just got a Brand New AEM holley 680 Double Pumper

FUN FUN FUN

I have more pics... I need to update my folder

I read an article last night where someone put an carbarator in an LS1. Just wondering, why did you go that route. Are there any benifits of going with one?

I got lots of help on this one.

I did the carb to save the issues with the fuel system and computer system. (trying to be low tech) It worked but casued other issues...

Like with FI I could have used my stock HOOD! Oh Well I liked the looks of the L88 hood anyway... 500.00 dollars later and now I need to paint it and put it on... that will cost another 500-600 to do it right.

So I could have gotten the FI and computer for what I have in the hood and paint.

I went that way mostly to keep a CARB on a C3... I strongly considered a ZZ4 or ZZ383

But thought this would be cooler and just as powerful.

Besides driveability is better than any GEN I sbc could dream. Smooth and easy even with a nice size camshaft.

PEPOPLE will say I am STUPID for putting old TECH on a Modern engine. I SAY THE HELL WITH YOU....

It is different and cool. And I have the only one!

and Me and i think one more too.
I'm going to do the swap someday. For now I'm in school and work part time at a Vette repair shop. When I do the swap though, I'm going for big block cubic inches (427) with an LS(1,2,6,7) small block and a supercharger blowing into the pistons. Then you can add "1969Vette427" to that list in oh, 5 years or so.

Amen! I'd do it. But this is coming from the guy who got to drive his dad's '63 Studebaker Avanti to high school. I like to be different. Hell, I might carburete my future LS_ engine and attach a centrifugal Paxton blower to the car, that would be different.

I bought a brand new set of SS Hooker sidepipes and headers and gave them and the car with the body on it to a friend that's an awsome welder. He builds headers and cages for all types of race cars on a regular basis. He cut the primaries and welded some new bends in and the LS1 flange I'd bought. I had them re-polished and they look aboslutely gorgeous and stock. I was waiting to get my frame reassembled (body is off) before I took any pics. He also cut the frame on the bottom and welded a nice rounded piece in so that my O2 sensors would go under the car instead of sticking out the top of the sidepipes. I wouldn't go this route unless you REALLY want Hooker sideipipes though!!

A magnuson supercharger, a cam, and the LS6 heads I already have are gonig to be the only engine modifications.

Awsome. Your sideipes look great! If I had to do it over again, I probably would've done mine like yours and just had them ceramic coated instead of going with SS.

Default What's required?

So let me get this right. Some LS1 engines can be had for $1500 correct? Then what else do I need? I know I need the motor mount adapter plates but those are pocket change compared to the engine itself.

What if I wanted to bolt an LS1 to my old M21 4 speed? Would I need a new bellhousing? How about my existing dual friction Centerforce clutch and flywheel assembly?

I could go with the Edelbrock carb intake manifold and reuse my Holley carburetor while making a few dollars back by selling the electronics. What am I missing that would be needed to swap over to an LS1 and make it work with my existing 4 speed?

Lakewood bellhousing
New flywheel
Cut crossmember
Tach convertor
Extend PS ram 1"
Cut front coils springs
Electric fan
Misc. hoses
Electric fuel pump

That's about it. You may run into some linkage issues with the 4 speed. I would do alot of measuring first to make sure the trans is in the existing location.

wiring harness
PCM
front accessories (for $1500 you're probably only going to get the longblock)
misc bolts and things can add up as well
