pushrod length
what length pushrods should I use? will drop a comp cam 284H in an 81. should I go with stock length?

Did you do anything else to the heads or block? If so, then you will need to get a push rod length checker and rocker arm.
If you just went to this cam, this is the one I have in my rebuild, you are probably okay staying with stock length...but still suggest checking.

The trick is to know what you are looking for. If you get a checker push rod how do you even know when you have the correct length????
Remember it is better to error on the short side then on the long side.

Thanks, maybe i'll just opt for the stock length.........just in case

You know when you have the correct length pushrod by watching how the rocker arm moves over the valve tip during a cycle of that valve.
Check our Comp Cams technical page and read the page they have on checking for proper pushrod length.
