It flattens out over 5000 rpm.
I agree.

Here's an interesting comparison of the XE262 to the XE268. Dyno sheets are from Comp Cams web site.

The XE 262 actually produces slightly more HP and torque than the XE 268 with this engine setup.

CompCams used Dart heads and headers on their test mule engine. This makes a huge difference over the stock setup.

can't argue with those graphs.....makes you wonder why someone would choose the 268.....ooops that was me......i think that the difference is so slight in the grinds that on either side of any cam the next choice is very similar....an i do like the 268 so looks like the 262 will work well for you if you want to be around 350hp

The heads are iron. They're Dart Iron Eagles.

I've only run 93 and suspect that 87 or 89 might be a problem. One time I did put a couple of gallons of 89 in, just enough to get me from one service station to another since the first was out of premium but only had to go 4-5 blocks.

My timing is standard Lars. 36* all in by 2,500 RPM.

Bob, That's what sold me on using that cam also the Comp Cams graphs, we were surprised with the low numbers, that's why I'm switching Bob, disapointed with the performance, great mild cam for the street though, no lope smooth idle, low end and mid range torque pretty good, after that it falls off...youv'e seem my 73 Bob, next 2-3 weeks new engine will be installed....

I drove my 74 w/M21, 327 too much cam, fulie heads, stk intake and redone q jet. After 95K it was time for rebuild. TFS heads, 650 Demon vs, 218-224 HR + 1.6 RRs = .532 I / .539 E. Went to dyno w/stk duals dented and flattened. 280 RWHP 315 RWTQ Headers and 2.5 ex should have me in the 12 sec 20 mpg club. The 3:55s and M21 make it way tall off the line. I love the BB mid range that squirts me through traffic. The catalog lists this as the most cam that can be run w/stk converter. A 5 sp will change my outlook I'm sure. JMHO
