Iam thinking of converting to HEI from a points ignition.... is this switch hard to do and is there alot to change
Iam running a 74 stingray stock 350. has anyone done this and if so what were the results good or bad???? :cheers:

If yur tach drive still works I would just go with a breakerless conversion kit and a hotter coil. this is assuming you origanal thac drive dist is in fair shape or better. Check out Pertronix.com

I am converting back to points.....So I can use my tach again...Plus I really wanna keep it all original...I may sell u my hei if u are interested...I just bought a used tach drive distributor and I am replacing points with Pertronix guts and flamethrower coil

Before you decide, check out this website: http://www.davessmallbodyheis.com. I have not used his services, but he sounds like he knows what he's doing. He's also the only guy I've come across who's into this.

You basically have 2 choices when going to HEI:
Get a tach drive HEI, about $500 or so.
Or get a regular HEI and swap to a 75-77 electric tach. I went with option #2. I used the guts from the electric tach and the faceplate from the original tach so I got correct lettering and red line. Works like a charm.
