I'm installing a new set of ceramic coated Hooker comps on my Alum. headed 406. Whats the best gasket to use? Copper, stock fiber, or something else? Any tricks for longevity? Thanks
Great advice but nobody ever listens, plus it makes it harder to install the headers.....wreck a few threads and youll see what a benifit studs are to aluminum
I originally was using a thin gasket and always had leaks. I switched to Earl's and the exhaust leak diappeared. It looked like the Earl's gasket had slightlly smaller port holes, so that probably helped.

I just did new ARP 5/16 thread hex nut universal studs for aluminum heads. The drivers side Hooker pipe went right in from below without plugs installed. The passenger side I had to remove my mini starter and they fit right up.
I have big port heads so I'm using the felpro Blue steel. Actually reusing they might be years old and on several engines.
