I'm under my '73 today and remembered this post---My alarm key switch is on the back and does have a round connector like that but only has one wire that I can feel. There is no connector like that in the location you are looking at on my car.....Sorry.

I've sent a PM to S489 concerning the connector in question. It is part of the alarm system, and as such is a security feature that should not be revealed publicly in order to protect members who may still use their OEM alarm system. Discussing that connector and what it plugs into is like giving away the key to every corvette still using the OEM alarm system. Let's be responsible and handle the OEM alarm system components through PMs as they are not viewable by the public.

The 73 has two wires too the alarm and no mercury switch. When 74 moved the switch to the fender their was the extra switch added. I sure hope if their is an original alarm system that is mounted in the fender and has survived till now working as original and some crook reads this and figures how to disarm the system I'm sorry. If a crook knows any thing he will pick on 67-435's and leave 74-77 sharks alone.

I don't know if anyone does have the OEM alarm system in use Lyle. But, it's not the crooks that worry me...it's the teenagers down the street that get it into their pot filled heads that taking a vette for a spin would be fun. Crooks aren't going to go stealing a 10,000 car when most vehicles are worth more. The only cars the crooks are going to go for are the ones with low miles and in original condition...which also means a working OEM alarm system. An all original showroom quality Stingray is rare...almost all of them have had parts fall off of them. I'm sure there's always some collector somewhere with no morals that would pay 50 grand or more for a mint condition stingray no questions asked. Most restored C3's are running around 25 grand, but most collectors want to say, "It's all original" and are willing to pay the extra 25 grand for the words.

I'd don't see what's wrong with sending a reply via PM when it's dealing with the alarm system.

If you want to PM thats OK with me.

I will post the answer to question ask on line. I don't worry telling anyone where its at or how it works is a big deal. The alarms that work may have a battery shut off also and putting the **** in your pocket is better than the alarm in my book.

Thanks to everyone for their posts. I remember from the 70's how thieves were gaining access to vettes and I don't remember this item being part of their MO. I doubt that it would be today either, although I don't know the MO of todays' thieves stealing 70s vettes (I'm no expert on the subject of auto theft and don't have statistical data to reference; just typing personal recollections).
When I started this thread, I didn't realize that this terminal was part of the alarm system. I have other anti-theft measures designed into my car as many others do; I'm also sure that there are many who don't. I'll bet many never set the working factory alarms that came on their older cars (I frequently don't set mine). Personally, I find the history and technical aspects of the subject as it relates to vettes as well as other cars fascinating (encroachment on personal freedoms approaching; that's another thread!)
Nevertheless, Rockn-Roll's thoughtfulness is noted and I will respect the concerns he has raised on the behalf of the many others who have not posted or have not yet read, and who would wish that this bit of information remain less public.
Please feel free to PM me if you have any new information not posted,
Thanks, S489
