A lot easer then mine to get parts for , AL. I will post a picture of the Speaker enclosure when its install maybe by tomarrow so you have a good idea of look and fit, AL.
The Corvette is not my only "go fast" car! When is the last time you saw one of these? (1972 Buick GS 455 Stage 1 4-Speed) AL.
That Buick's version of the Old's 442? That's a sweet car man. After I finish this Vette I have a 1971 Charger in the works. I'm gonna build a monster 440, and do a full resto/custom job on it. No pics yet as work has not started. I have all the body parts I need to begin the process though.
I built a set of the corner speaker boxes. The bass response sux, so I installed one of these Kenwood Woox units and now it sounds 1000% better. Youll probably have to upgrade on that set-up if you use a rear open box construction.

As far as addind Bass is a small area I found Infinity makes a nice little self powered sub called Base Link that is another way to go, AL.

Another company I found that makes great mid-bass speakers is CDT. The are probably the best quality you can get for how cheap they are. Clear, clean...good mid-bass. And cheap. $100 for a great model set.
what size / kind of speakers are those in the corners in that last post. I have a 3 way componet set in my car that im a lil unhappy with, and my amp is mounted in the rear glove box and over heats agter 2 hrs of heavy use.

They're either 6x9s or 8". It's hard to tell from the angle, but I think they are 6x9s.
put it this way..... i need a bigger alternator and another battery.... the 10 pods are fiberglassed into the corners with dynomatt between the body and speaker pod...... the lows are crazy....... you can hear me about a city block away the long direction.... my system is clear also.... shyt, for the time/money involved, it should be.....

I hear ya, being into stereo myself. I do a lot of stereo installs for customers, and they are usually all VERY happy with my suggestions and work. What alt are you working with right now? That's more important than a battery. And the problem you run into with aftermarket high output alts is they sometimes produce LESS idle amperage than a stock alt. They produce the high levels at high RPMs and most people have their stereos thumping at low speeds and RPMs. I'm gonna build my new motor with a pair of alts for 100+ amps at idle. Perfect for a big stereo.
i think i have a b.s. 63 amp alt..... i want to go to a 100-120 alternator.... i also have to upgrade my regular battery to a ultima/red/yellow cap.... i have about 200-300 just in power/ground wiring and prolly another 100-150 in rcas....crazy...... if i get my money right this winter, i'm gonna redo the entire dash/amp setup to a more creative mod....sort of like a mini truck setup.... mold int he gauges/etc.... have the amps mounted on the rear and top......... i might have to tweek the subs a bit to fit but we'll see if i have the time/money to do it...

You have the stereo bug. Cool...I've had it for years. I used to compete my Durango. Now I just keep it shy of that level and enjoy my music. My Vette will have a great system but nothing award winning.
Box looks good Al How do you secure it? I need to build another box for my 68, the one I have takes up too much room, as I am running Polk Audio components and a single 10" sub.
While all you car stereo guys are online, I have a question. I'm going to buy an older Alpine unit (7164 three poster) from another forum member to put in my 68. I pulled the wiring diagram from Alpines website, which includes what was called back in the 80's a DIN plug. This plug is used to directly connect to an external amp. I noticed the wiring description of this plug that it shares a common ground for the speakers. Now the instructions for my amp(Kenwood KAC-749) state that "sharing speaker wiring may cause this unit to fail". So my question is, can the wiring from the stereo be adapted somehow to work with this amp? Thanks in advance guys
