that's awesome out of a pg motor,555 should be real fast.

Both runs were at Etown last Saturday at the corvette challenge Pro8. More discussion in the dragrace forum, but not really much about the actual mishap. I don't think anything broke to cause the accident, and damage was relatively minor. Car usually runs straight down the track but it's just a whole lot of power. I think what he is saying here is that after that first run(the first video) went 7.93 @ 177 mph he upped the power in an attempt to go even faster, and it was the extra power that caused him to lose control and hit the wall.

All of the abrupt movement in the front end is what I was talking about...it unloads everything and things can go a little wacky. Most drag racing schools will tell you if you lift, do not get back into it.

If you look you can see the second time he gets into it he is way out of the groove and the drivers side rear tire leaves a black mark in the track.

The car sounds like a nitrous car on a progressive controller. Listen how the motor really comes alive when he releases the transbrake and continues to gain rpm and pitch as he is out past the 60' Also notice how the wheelie stays about the same height and carries the front tires for quite some time. This is the nitrous coming in on the controller. It would be very difficult to run a car at that weight with such a small tire and not have someway of ramping in the power.

Here is a video of my car from a while back. I bring in all the nitorus on the transbrake before the car leaves the line. You can hear the motor really come alive right before I leave the line. Watch how my car pops the front end up, but then sits it right back down. This is due to me being at full power as soon as I leave the line, as opposed to ramping it in.

Where do I start, been testing the car for years...The prior pass the car went 7.93 @ 177... and it was straight and didnt lift the wheels more than 6 inches, SO now it was time to put some power in! As u can see the chassis didnt like it ,nor did I,hooked right ,right tire caught the painted surface, saw the wall ,came off the pedal,as usual, (the car has aprox. 70 + passes this year, each one a handfull)this time power had been turned up,sun went away ,cold track...got back into the pedal to elimnate the first round opponent, broke one tire loose and it came around...Been workin on the car steady each night, tryin to go to Virginia in Feb. ---Where are u guys from? The car weighs 3400 w/ dr....has gone 5.1 in 1/8 th, has stock frame rails in the rear, stock tubs and a dana w/ 3.73 gears...thanks for the interest, hope to meet some of u soon

You've got a sick fast car there. Sorry to see/hear what happened. Good job on your victory in the pro-8 series!
BTW, I'm in Orlando. Do you ever go to the Street Nationals?

I went there too. That was the largest one I've ever seen. 7.8 on radials is insane!!! I have a '69 and was running 12's. I've dropped in a new motor, DR's, nitrous and a stall so I'm hoping for low 11's. It's mostly a street car (for now). I haven't run in any series here (some of my friends have), but am trying to get an on going Corvette drag racing "get together" going at that track.

Default Ok...ok...

MSD box 7351 digital, u gotta have this . The ramp is out of the gate, retards the timing 5' for 1 second , this is all adjustable. 632 cu. in.............598 in 05'...,11.5 comp., steel block ,big chief heads, wet sump, single 4, powerglide trans. 3.73 gears,29.5 x 10.5 M/T ,two stage fogger, 3400 lbs. should go alot faster ,BUT chassis is not up to date ,some say old school, thats why its always a handfull. Car was set up w/ 4 link in 1996 for NMCA 10.5 class--RULES: any car , but must retain the original frame rails ,wheel tubs, stock location of engine. Car is still set up for that, it has alot of street cruise miles and aprox.300-400 passes. This winter car will be updated slightly,it cost way too much to cut everything out and start all over. Im havin a great time every time we go racin... I made alot of mistakes, learned alot..always willing to help others, always learning new and trying new parts ,methods ,ideas..I have a gret lesson learned about NOS foggers, dont know if im boring u? Angelo There is alot more info? Tell me some specs on ur car and how u tune?

This is the first real race car I haver had. My 69 is a 454 with a 6 speed that I used to take to the track with my friends. I bought this tube frame race car with the idea of learning how to drive a fast car. I took the engine out of my 69, added a Fogger and stuck it in my 63 race car. The motor is a semi radical street motor, small solid roller, ported oval Edelbrocks, Holley 1000, etc. I figure the motor makes about 620 hp. I spray 300 hp on the Fogger right off brake. The car has been 5.25 at 133.96 with this set up.

I am building a 555 with the goal of going faster than 7.5

Angelo,
I appreciate the compliment but I would be honored to use my car as your "Tow Vehicle". I have followed your car for months now thru the CF and love it. I would like to pick your brain on the 4-link setup. I'm in the process of putting parts together to convert mine to a 4-link without cutting the original frame or tubs. Any tips?

Angelo...that is one bad boy ride you have there!! I've always liked seeing fast C-2's and C-3's!

Pef427 is deep into doing a solid axle swap in his car, so any pics or help you can give would be great.

I've got a custom Dana 60 IRS under my '67 and I can vouch for the fact it's a handful as it is and I've only got a 540 N/A!! A 632 on the juice and running 7's is killer!!

Looking forward to seeing it back in action and best of all glad to see you walked away from it !!
