It is, but most side pipes will muffle the exhaust just enough to fool the po po. I know because I had to drive across town after I got the new pipes, and had to wait for the inserts. It was loud, but not like an open header car sound.

I suggest a set of very large well flowing Magna Flows or Flow masters.

I dont think you are an idiot because you are in high school, in fact I think thats great to see such a young C3 enthusiast... BUT... While in school you might want to pay more attention in your English and spelling class!

randommj - Fill out your profile for us when you get a chance. It helps us when you ask a year related question or a location type question. Thanks, later.

I like Table Rock too, but it's too old a crowd sometimes. Can't beat the Lake of the Ozarks and Party Cove. Let me know next time you come up this way. We can meet for a beer...er, you can have a milk or soda or something.

I have never heard the spirals before, but the Sweet Thunders sound good.

The headers with no inserts is tricky. A cop with a trained ear will know you have no mufflers, and will require a court appearance with proof from a muffler shop or inspection ticket showing your car meets your city's requirements.

On the other side of that, if you have a shop inspect your car with inserts, and you take them out...and get pulled over...that shop will get screwed and prolly try to make your life hell.

One other thought...coming from a guy who has had side pipes on two Vettes...your ears will suffer. After so many hours in a car where the exhaust exits just under the car where your ear is...your hearing suffers. And that's with mufflers. With nothing you will do some serious damage to your ears.

alright thanks alot for the advice, im headed out right now to get my headers ceramic coated flat black, but im looking at the "spiral Turbo" mufflers on: www.spiralturbobaffles.com i like em', thx again

today i riped out my seats to clean under them and to see if i could fine my lap belt (ive only been able to use the shoulder harnes) and i found the recoil mechinism but i was wondering if a 74 had the seat belts like my dads 72, where the sholder strap hooked onto the lap belt, or if the both shared the same metal pice, if anyone know please share the knowlege!

AND if any one has any tips on re-aligning the T-tops it would b much appriciated as well!

Yes, they should be the same. Usually what happens is, the lower mechanism will get wet from leaks and so forth, and the springs will fail, and the under-seat unit becomes worthless.

That's when Bubba will cut the lower portion off the system, and use only the shoulder belt, which usually lasts a lot longer.

By the way, Bubba, is the guy that has owned our Vettes before us, and done all the stupid things that we have to fix as new owners. He's had them all...trust us.

(hooked on the same metal pice, or same as the 72?) (should i replace or just restore the recoil mechinism?)

lol i love the "bubba" comment, ne comment on the T-top adjustment? OR adjusting the hood, i think it might b to "flat", bc my hood is aligned properly at the nose and at the base of the windshield, but is about a half inch too low in the center of the hood, looks horrible
