i was wondering if cadolytic converters are bolt on or if there is an in depth procedure, if so how?
and i was also wanting to know what will give me the best sound on mufflers? glasspacks, flowmasters, or anything else i want, idealy, a deep DEEP rumble at idol speed and i want to make houses with clapper lights go CRAZY when i drive by at faster speeds
I'm using a set of Hooker super comp headers running into straight duals with Dynomax mufflers at the end...It has that real low growl which is awsome.....Jerrylee///

I personally like the sound of my Hooker sidepipes, and different inserts will get you different sound.
For true dual exhaust, stop by a shop, and have them design you a 2.5" system, no cross over, and a pair of big Magna Flow mufflers. Magnas flow wonderfully and give you that deep throaty burble that you want at idle, and a pure all out ROAR when your put your foot in it.
CATs are not really bolt in, but they are easy. The exhaust has to be cut, and the CAT placed inline in the system. Then, welded to the pipes they sected.

You need to check out Bee Jay's thread here and especially watch his video clip. There is a lot of data in the thread on exhaust systems for the C3... wild to mild... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1512949
Some catalytic converters are bolt on and some use a slip fit. The bolt on's will almost always need new gaskets while the slip fit's rarely slip off without a fight.
Unless your car has emissions tests, where they measure your emissions...I say get yourself some flow-throughs. The LOOK like CATs but don't actually do anything, and they don't hinder the flow.
74's are the last year where they came with no caddies, so i dont hav to hav them, so im hoping she'll be REAL loud
seeing as tho this thread has no ACTUAL topic i thought id ask, how would a stock 74 stand up to the mustangs you see ALL over the place with a 3.2-4.0 Litre engine, i dont know much about mustangs except im tired of seeing a once great muscle car turn into a "chick" car, saying that i am NOT sexist by any means but you always see the steriotypical "vally girl" headed to the mall in them

would you know about the mustang question ^up there^
ill try to get home on time but out town is CRAZY about check points and the ALWAYS stop the vette

A modern Mustang...even the V6 models, will beat a stock L48 almost every time. They have the gearing, and similar HP to the stock Vette, emissions choked motors.
my friend has one and he said it has 190 HP, later on down the road ($) im putting in a preformance CAM, new valves anf springs, and this summer i might put in aluminum heads

Don't forget the all important free flowing intake and a better exhaust system. That power is no good unless the motor can breath.
ive got the hooker headers and the side pipes, so exaust is no problem, im thinking of some sort of ram air system, anyideas?

(thx for all the help, alot of people are nice to me then they find out im just in high scool they act like im an idiot and scoff at me alot, thx again)
thats how it was when i bought it from the guy, its kinda my before pick to keep me driven to stay active on restoring the vette, its like the little shadow behind you that you need to take care of
ram air input?

I would not worry about a ram air system, it willl not benefit you very much with a near stock motor and you will need to be going over 100mph to really see any benefit at all. If you at all serious about performance, you need to go about getting a better intake, raise compression, get a bigger cam, get some good flowing heads, and look into what gear ratio your running and what stall your trans torque converter is. And on top of all this you need it to be properly tuned or else it will run like a sick dog.
