Default Timing light hookup

Where do I hookup the positive line for a timing light?

I know the normal place is the battery...there's the obvious problem of reach.

Is there a place I can hook it up in the engine bay? Right off the alternator or something or do I need to rig up an extension for the positive line?

thanks

Right at the back of the alt. Positive and negative. Be very careful with the positive, so easy to slip if your not careful.

I like clipping to the horn relay post on the drivers side fender well. More out of the way and less chance of unintentional grounding.

I use the horn relay post. Out of the way and no problems with cable length

Hmm...I'll have to look for that.

Any hints other than "driver's side fender well"? :D

I looked for the horn relay tonight and could not find it?

Anyone want to give a few hints as to where it is?

Thanks,

Stephen

Just clip it to the back of the alternator - the positive post is right there, and the ground lug is there, too. Then you have all the wires hooked up right where the #1 cylinder is and the job is a piece of cake. Very quick, very easy. There is no more chance of shorting out the positive clip at this location than at any other location, so it's perfectly safe.
