I got the tank out and it looks to be in good condition at least. Need to run new fuel lines as the old ones are rubber. Need metal/braided for NHRA specs, I believe.
Couple of other NHRA issues with your picture. You might read the rules over a couple of times so u don't have to redo something later.
1. The back support bars for the hoop can't be more than 5" below the top of the hoop where u weld them to the hoop.
2. Hoop has to be <=6" from back of drivers head.

#2 will be covered. But I just don't see #1 being possible unless I move the cage forward toward the driver more

I helped a friend do his 67 427 camero with SS 3/8th hard line supply and 1/4 inch return. You just need quality flaring and bending tools. It took alot more time, but it is worth the effort to know that your lines are not filling your filter.
Not a good picture - but this is how the rear two come down on the frame
How tall (short) am I, 5'1" so if your wondering if I will hit my head, chances are, no
I have seen where people with the flat rear window mount the hoop both up in the rear compartment, and also down just behind the seats. Just behind the seats seems like it would be much closer, but it only needs to be < 6"
Thanks for the pics Mike. I like the way the hoop tilts back, gives u more room to work with a good angle on the back down support bars. I'm 6'1", so my seat is all the way back and really, I need another 2 inches or so to stretch out like I prefer. I'll have to put the top of the hoop clear back against the window to have room for a helmet. Supposed to have 3" from top of roll bar to helmet, don't think I will have that, but not much I can do about it. Might even have to take the Ttop liner out of the drivers side to get a helmet on. I put new foam and seat covers on a year ago and I sit up pretty high.
Taking a break (back hurting) gona finish getting the passenger fuel lines out of the way in a bit. Speaking of which, I have to have bigger than the stock fead line for my fuel injection setup, which is why I have a high pressure rubber line run up to the engine bay. Will have to go steel, aluminum or braided to make it NHRA legal, main reason why I completely pulled the gas tank.

I'm also 6'1/2 and I have mine resting on the glass and its has plenty of room between it and my head.
Your cage isn't going to be right above your head in a vette. And It isn't going to be much taller than your head with a helmet. Luckily I have a shorter body and I have plenty of clearance with t-top liners in.
What is the length and width (at the bottom) of your hoop? I am thinking I might position mine a bit further back at the base, making my height 22" or so, width 43.5".
Gonna get the hoop bent a little narrower tomorrow once I finalize as it is currently 46" wide and would stick out beyond the frame and into the tire wells at this width, so obviously won't work.
I got the hoop setup so far. The hoop from Jegs looks like it was setup to mount to the frame just behind the rear seat mount (outside mount/slider). I wasn't about the cut up my car that much, so I put it where u see in the pictures. Took the hoop to a muffler shop and they bent it at the point u see (approximately 22" high) in the existing angle, but took it in to about 30 degrees so that the outside of the hoop width is at 43.5".
I'm very happy with it, waiting to weld anything until I get the whole thing mocked up. I also ordered some urethane body mounts, so I want to get these in before I finalize it as they will probably raise the body off the frame a bit. Anyone know how much to expect from 30 year old rubber body mounts?
Still debating as to whether or not I should weld plates and make it bolt in or not, I could actually remove the thing if I make the inside cover plates properly. I got a little overzealous with the rotosaw on the fiberglass, but I can easily patch back in the pieces I cut out.
