ok so i just cut off my old mufflers, and I have the new ones, but they need to be fit to the car so I have to drive it down to the muffler shop to have to some extra pipe added to make up the length diff. Problem is now it wont start, is the straight pipes throwing something off?
Doubtfull, even the O2 sensor is way up bt the manifold and the ECM should easily be able to compensate for the lowered backpressure. What have you checked? Gas, Air, Ignition...
Can you please explain to me why someone with a new set of mufflers, but without the expertise or materials to replace them where the car sat, would decide to go ahead and cut off the old ones? I think I'm missing something.
Is the catalytic converter still in place? If so, the only way that removing the mufflers would have any effect is if it's the original converter and you've clogged it by moving the exhaust around. Easy way to test is to unbolt the cat at the front, where it meets the front y-pipe (4 bolts). If it starts and runs fine, a clogged cat is the problem. If not, I doubt that the exhaust has anything to do with it.

I think he scared the rats out of the mufflers and into the converter, that would plug it up for sure!
Seriously, removing mufflers wouldn't cause such a problem. You've got some other issue and checking the converter isn't a bad idea. Also, check to see if the engine is flooding. Does it smell like gas when you can get it to run? Do you see a lot of black smoke?
Check to see that you haven't damaged a fuel line near the back of the car. Also, visually check under the hood to make sure you didn't knock a plug wire off or pull some vacuum hose off.

damn i hate when i leave it in gear...thats good for about 20 seconds worth of trouble shooting...it happens when we push the car out of the garage and don't put it back in to gear......and we don't have any hills so theres not much to worry about at 9' above sea level...except for tidal waves
well guys, i dont know what it was, but after I just floored it for a minute it fixed itself. And too clarify for whoever posted about not having the tools or expertise, you didnt miss anything...I had the tools, I just had a set of mufflers, that were cut off of my buddy's gto becasue he didnt like them, they just needed new inlets, I didn't necessarily have to drive the vette there since essentially i was just welding the inlets to the muffler. I was going to put all the clamps on at home...I've replaced exhaust before considering its not too hard. I just dont have a ton of engine diagnostic skill. Sorry For the bother everyone, and i appreciate the quick response. Drove her all night with my new dynomax bullets and it runs/sounds amazing!

Sounds like someone needs the $400 Q-jet rebuild. That is why I went with the 1406 Edelbrock. NO problems and starts on the first crank, EVERYTIME. in the 70k miles I had my Q-Jet on my car, it had to be rebuilt every 2-3 years. Im not a fan of the Q-Jet
