Tremec TKO-600 Install problem....help!
http://www.keislerauto.com/gm/transmissions/clutch.asp
I do not have a removable cross member, and had to do the exercise outlined by Keisler's instructions. I did use my stock bell housing.
It's a nasty way to install a transmission, (engine in the car with non removable cross member), however, I did not have to cut the tool.
It was also a loose fit in the clutch disc. I lightly snugged the pressure plate (so I could still position the disc), and moved the tool left/right and up/down and positioned the disc in the center of the movement.
My transmission went in on the first try, completely in by hand.
I guess I was lucky. Having an 18 yr old neighbor's kid helping with the lifting didn't hurt either.
I think the secret is to find the center of the slop in the alignment tool.
