I did what I described from inside car, kick panel off, remove vac canister, did the job leaving canister arm off door, reinstalled canister, kick panel back on....done
45 minutes, tops, to do it and the world of difference...but don't forget the shut off valve...that is also a major factor for the heat

Another thing to do is use 3M dum dum around heater and AC box. Run a bead of 3M around the box and firewall, around fan motor and heater box and the center seam of the AC box. You won't beleive how much hot air gets sucked in from the motor. My car was reading 98 degrees from the center vents. when I finished the above it dropped to outside temp.

I had the same problem. I was stuck in traffic after a light rain and noticed that there was a dry line down the middle of the road where my car was. Replaced the cat and it dropped the interior heat a lot.
