Ok, I've reached the point of finishing the interior. Painting is done!!!!! I got a seatcover kit from Willcox, but it does not show where the 5 differnet lengths of paperclip looking retainer clips. Is there a map? I know they hook onto the wires that slide into underside of the covers, but which lengths go where.
I redid my seats in the leather / vynil sides covers from Wilcox. I used all the same size clips, (aka hog rings). Didn't know there were different sizes required. Turned out great though!
I know what clip you are talking about. I did two sets of seats but I looked at the old covers. I would be guessing as it has been awhile. Maybe this will help http://www.corvettemagazine.com/2001...s/seatspg1.asp
The shortest ones are used on the cross wire (the one that goes from side to side). The other clips are put on wires that go from front to back so the length gradually gets longer toward the front of the seat . It kind of makes sense if you look at the thickness of the foam that they go through. It is hard to explain with text, so I hope this makes sense.

When you take the old covers off take notes and pictures as it will help in reassembly.

As said above,, also if you havn't noticed there are small holes in the foam for the clips to go through, and if your kit was like mine you will be missing 4 clips,, (2for each side) you can omit the top ones on the seat back,, also to help feed them through tie a piece of string to each clip after attaching them to the rods in the covers.
Just make a "clip puller" out of some stiff wire. All it needs is a loop or triangle shaped handle with a hook on the other end to catch the end of the clips.
Thanks for all the responses, they helped a lot. Sorry I didn't reply sooner; but my computer went on vacation, so I had to fix it. One hard drive later and back in business. Remember...keep moving forward by backing up.
If you are not concerned with total originality on the bottom side. I dont know why anyone would look under there anyway. Use some nylon twine to tie them off. Pull them down as tight as you like and tie them off Throw away those clips, they just cut through your new seat covers. You will never know the nylon is there and it will not ruin you covers.

I have had wire ties in place of the hog rings on my seats for over 15 years. Never had a problem.
I'm in the process of doing mine also, the back covers have what looks like a fabric material and green adhesive on the sides bonding it to the frames. Should that be duplicated with something and glued to the frame again??
