Default Choke Question

I’m in the process of doing a vortec swap on my 1971 Corvette. My old heads and intake had a heat crossover allowing me to run a divorced choke. My new heads and intake do not allow me to run my old choke. Id like to keep my qjet but I can't find a kit that allows me to convert my carb to an electric choke? Does someone make a housing that allows me to bolt an electric choke to my carb?

read the post from Lars. Looks like Edelbrock makes one pretty cheap.

You can also do a search on this forum for "choke conversion" for other hints.

I think the referenced thread relates to converting a hot air choke to electric. I believe the OP is looking to convert a divorced choke.

Your 71 should have a divorced choke. See part CU445 on this site for a possible solution. http://www.carburetion.com/quadrajet.asp

If you do a search on this forum, some members have used this part with good results.

There is nothing you can bolt to a divorced choke carb to turn it into an electric choke. The only option is the electric choke conversion from Carbs Unlimited referenced by PaulH. To use this, you have to have a manifold with mounting provision for the conversion, and you will need to fabricate a custom length rod from the divorced electric choke to the carb.

Does any know of an intake manifold that has a mounting provision on it that will fit vortec heads?
