Just saw rayluka's post on vacuum hose and didn't want to hi-jack it. So, I thought I better write my own. Pic below, I was at the Stereo shop today and some guy wanted to "See what's under the hood." The owner noticed, not sure why I didn't, that there is no vacuum advance hose from the Distributor. Any idea why? The engine runs fine, and no rough idle, at least no more than usual with the mild cam. But is there a need for this line? There's no need for headlight vacuum. and it's a '73, so no wiper vacuum needed as well.
Hope this isn't to dumb of a question....
Michigan,
Look up any post on timing, especially the one by Lars, and you will understand why you need a vacuum advance. When you understand more about the topic, you will be well armed to discover what benefits that having a vacuum advance will bring you.

For information on the vacuum advance system, drop me an e-mail request for my vacuum advance paper - it is co-authored by several Corvette engineering authorities, and it will explain the purpose and use of the system. You can then make up your own mind if you want to retain the system. I can't think of a single reason to not run one. See my post under "406 Runs Too Hot."
You might also want to request a copy of my "How to build a fuel line" paper - your fuel line looks frightening..
I appreciate the help. Lars, I understand you are a man to be trusted. I have sent you an email, and would be grateful if you could steer me in the right direction. Thanks!
BarryK and Lars,
I downloaded almost all the C3 technical articles on Barry's site. Thank both of you very much. I have a 78 SA and a 82 CE and both seem to need constant attention, and I keep all the technical items I can find. There are some things that are just not clear enough in the Shop Manuals.
Thank you again for posting and making your information available!
