i'm getting ready to buy or get my bumpers chromed does anyone know if it's cheaper to buy or have my bumpers @ other parts chromed @ if so does anyone know of a good chroming shop thanks pete
Hi Pete,
I believe it's usually cheaper to have your parts re-plated. Plus, you know for sure how the bumpers fit your car. Fit is often a problem with reproduction chrome parts.
Librandi's in Harrisburg does really nice work.
Regards,
Alan
If you re-chrome it is very important to know what process the shop you chose uses.
Trivalent is the new chrome process that will not match an old car.
Hexavalent is the process which your car probably has now.
Make sure you know what your needs are to avoid disapointments.
I agree to re-chroming what you have, it will fit and alignmment is sometimes a problem with reproductions. Make sure you note the shims on all locations when you disassemble.

You don't say in your profile where your from but for plating in Pa. Albert's Custom Chrome in Cheswick, Pa. 724 265-3810 for the big stuff such as bumpers, or for anything under two feet ( With the exception of corvette bumpers ) Dale Eddy Tarentum, Pa. 724 224-5119 He is very good and very reasonable but won't do pot metal.
Yea, Librandis is the best place I know of. They are expensive but the chrome is nice. I allways prefer to rechrome the old part instead of buying new chrome because the quality of the rechromed old part seems so much better than the chrome after market part.
