Default She's Back

After six months of sitting in the garage, I finally took the 79 to the mechanic. I drove her home today and it was simply orgasmic. She's almost better than new. My mechanic told me that I will need a new vacuum advance. Can anyone tell me what it is and where it is located?

Thank you
Doug

The vacuum advance can is mounted to the side of the distributor. If that is not working, your engine performance will be the 'pits'. You can get replacements about anywhere, but I would recommend NAPA.

7T1 is right on, so if it was 'almost better than new' I wonder why you need a new vac. advance. I'd think if the VA was bad you'd have had to limp it home?

Alan

Go to Zip products for a picture - connection to ZIP at the right of the page

59-74 VACUUM ADVANCE (BASE MOTOR)
Product Number:M-2342 Price: $12.50

Also, make sure its not just the hose. The car will actually work ok without it as I have left mine unhooked a few times. It will just work a LOT better with it on right. Also be sure to reset your timing after the install
