Has any one here made one for their daily driver? I have become very
intrigued about these systems. Youtube seems to be loaded with this
information but only enough to get my attention. I'm looking for information
on the build for a system that well produce a significant savings in fuel
usage (MPG). I'm looking to add this to both carburetors, and fuel injected vehicles.
Hi R,
How extensive is the laboratory you have in your basement?
Seriously, hasn't GM been playing around with hydrogen powered cars for decades?

Alan

what's your thoughts?

You won't save any money making a car run on hydrogen, you might save gas but not money. Untill someone figures out how to make hydrogen from something other than a fossil fuel (Propane) and figures out how to economically develop a distribution system for it, I don't think you'll see much activity using hydrogen. Hydrogen doesn't produce the same amount of energy when used in an internal combustion engine as gasoline either. It would be easier to convert your car to run on propane.
You can lease a hydrogen car right now the Honda FCX but you have to live in Southern California next to the few existing hydrogen fueling stations. And it's $600 a month.

With all the loonies in Madison I’m surprised they don’t have a hydrogen station
I am no scientist but Honda says their system will eventually involve home refueling stations that extract hydrogen from the home's natural gas supply. BMW says they they will have a hydrogen vehicle ready in 2010.
I thought there would be some open minded thoughts here but it seems as though
most have not looked at any recent info across the web. We have put
to much trust into are governments and our auto makers when we/you believe
that we would have things better if they (gov. and auto makers) thought it was better for us.
This is why there are more followers than their are leaders in this world, most people
believe that what is given to you is the truth and don't bother to check it out for them selfs.
I have spent some time researching hydrogen generators and have found some impressive
stuff from around the world. I hope to gather more info and maybe even give some of it a try.
Its not that expensive to put to gather a system that would give you a
sizable savings. Most, if not all parts are obtainable from your local hardware
store.
At first I thought, YEA RIGHT if its so good then why haven't they ????? BLA,BLA,BLA.
Giving it some thought from what I have so far read and seen it makes perfect sense
as to why the government is not pursuing this, how in the world would they be able to
tax it, if we all had a hydrogen generator system in our cars and trucks, lowering the use
of gas and diesel. The tax dollars would dwindle down to nothing, putting less money
in the governments hands.
I know I sound like a crack pot but with what I have found in a few short
hours I have given some real consideration, if nothing else I have learned
more about hydrogen then I knew before.
If anybody would like to have a look (or entertain your selfs) do a search
on hydrogen generators and see some of the interesting stuff
thats available to all of us view.
If so, people telling you that it won't work are not being close-minded, they are just being truthful. The claims on these websites violate the laws of thermodynamics. Flat out, they are wrong.
Hi Mike,
I understand that if you hold a match near the nozzle of your methane generator the methane becomes a source of light and propulsion.

Last time I looked into it there was a company in cali had a prototype conversion kit in a white C4, estimated cost was about $10k and no schedule for production. Wonder if they got funding?
I own a hardware store and have had many conversations with my customers who have come in to buy supplies for building a hydrogen converter. Most of them have actually built on or two and claim to have experienced significant gains in mpg. One customer in particular spent 30 yrs building nuclear power plants. He has built 3 of them and said each generation gets better. I've gained some insight from the various conversations I've had with my customers but have not yet had the time to develop one myself. My good friend runs a lab at Leighi (sp?) University. I've discussed with him helping me develop one with some of his grad students but not sure if we can pull it off.

I ran into a fellow with a minivan on a suburban chassis that had a V6 in it. He worked/works at one of the national labs in Oak Ridge Tn. He has a hydrogen generator in this minivan. It was very nicely done and very neat to see in operation. When he had the van off the tank looked like a 10 gallon aquarium with metal plates in it. Very similar to a battery. When he started the van, the generator started making millions of tiny bubbles. He had a pressure gauge on the outlet of the tank and a blow off valve set at some pressure. I can't remember the pressure. After a few minutes of idling, the blow off valve lifted and vented. It was very cool to see in operation. This is one time I wish I would have had my camera with me. He had just put the system into operation and was trying to tune his van at this time.

Absolutely. It can also sing, and depending on the density of the gas, affect the laundry schedule.
Methane generators are real. Hydrogen generators are real. Both consume more energy than they create.

Open minded? Or gullible?
I've built a few hydrogen generators in my day. The volume you get from them is miniscule, and to run or even assist a car? Give me a break, you'd need 1000's of amps. Those amps have to created somewhere and that somewhere is your engine....
I remember using a 12v 10 amp battery charger and filling a test tube with hydrogen. Took hours.
