Default Door interior trim

As some may have seen on the Willcox post i have asked the question about door trims.

I am restoring a 77, when i got to the doors they were shot, after looking for months i located a pair of 79-80 doors and shipped them over.

I stripped out the inner components on my old doors and looking at the inner metal skin, they appear to be the same i.e. same holes, stamped indents etc.

My question is, is there a big differance between the metal inner skins, if so where is the differance? apart from the two visable brackets on the 79 door skins.

I wanted to reuse my lock mech, trim pad by using the 77 components in the door.

Pictures can be found here : http://www.c3-corvette.co.uk/forum.html

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Hi WEV,
I really don't know!!!
BUT... in looking at your 2 pictures and a couple of vendor's catalogues my bet would be that you can use your 68-77 door parts on the 78-82 door, but wouldn't be able to make the 78-82 door parts work on a 68-77 door without a LOT of work.
Maybe you lucked out on this one!
Regards,
Alan

I think it depends on your car's options. Somewhere in the late 70's, the 'content' of the door panels changed due to elect. door locks, power window controls, and/or mirror controls being added to the door system. If those don't affect your car, then they should work fine.

Since the door panel/armrests changed in 78, one would expect some different screw holes. You should be fine.
