Well I debated it as long as I can. I have decided to remove the front clip on my 76. I know I will find rot in the bird cage and I just have to fix it. My thoughts are to drill a couple of 1/8" holes on each side where it is bonded and use pins to help in the alinement of the clip when I put it back on. Maybe this will put in the right place when it goes back on. I have read all the threads I can find on the subject but does anyone anymore advice. I plan on using a heat gun to help soften the bonding agent and slowly working a putty knife around the seams. I don't think anyone can have to much help and I will take all the help I can find. Thanks

Heat will help soften the glue, long putty knives & patience. I took a long stainless steel cake spreader and sharpened the tip & one side to act as a saw. Screw holes or pins may help for re installation, but expect to have some fiberglass to repair on both the nose & the supports.
Remove the doors to gain access to the seam at the right angle. You'll need a helper and spray some paint on the hinge bolts to help with alignment. I unbolted the top hinge and removed the pin from the bottom hinge. With out the windshield in I was able to remove & reinstall the doors by myself. This is a good time to replace the S spring also.
You can also cut the piece across the top of the firewall a couple of inches in from the fender to help alignment when you reinstall.
I may still have a copy of the instructions from Ecklers fiberglass repair book.
Jim thanks for the reply, I have read all the post I can find on the subject but I am always looking for some more advice. I had to post a question that has been covered in the past but sometimes we may pick up a new member that has experience in the subject that was not around during an older post. I also like the support I get from the members here. I am a little intimidated about removing the clip but when you get the support offered here it gives you a new confidence to try a project. Once I remove the clip I plan to remove the body so any help on it is also great. Thanks again and I'll take any advice offered.
