Default Seat Belts

I have a 69 set of seat belts that are in good condition but are stained. Can I spray them with the interior dye without the dye wearing off. Is there a better method. Thanks

Yes, if the seat belts have been washed and cleaned [of dirt, grime, and Armor-All] and if you have real vinyl dye [not the re-coloring paint sold in spray cans by the aftermarket parts places but labeled as "Dye"]. Real vinyl dye is a very thin, watery fluid (when wet or sprayed) which dries very rapidly and leaves almost no film thickness. If your spray can acts like that, you're good to go. If it looks like regular spray paint when you shoot it, don't put it on seat belts (or interior panels).

So let me understand. The dye that I bought from ecklers for my dash pieces and trim is not for the belts. I should look for actual dye. Thanks

I've not bought any spray "stuff" from Eckler's [and don't intend to]. I just know that many of the aftermarket suppliers carry something labeled "dye" and that it is merely paint. If that is the case, you really didn't want to use it on the other stuff either...but can you imagine how stiff the belts would be if you used paint on them? Interior vinyl dye should be bought from a professional auto painter supply store. SEM is what I use and it would work great on your belts.
