I just put motor back in my 73 and hooked everything up exept a ground strap by the starter It comes from the frame and is about 14 inches long where does this go if not to the stater I cant seem to see it maybe im blind Thanks for the help...
On my '71 there is a starter 'hanger' [at the front of the starter] that mounts to the engine block and to the upper starter housing stud. That ground strap is attached at the bolt holding the 'hanger' to the engine block.
Hi LP,
It runs from the same bolt that goes through the starter brace into the side of the block to a short bolt and nut that goes through a hole in the side of the frame bracket for the engine mount.
Regards,
Alan
PS: Hi Charlie, you're a faster typist than I am!!!!!
Make sure you use a star washer between the ground cable and the starter support bracket. And also on the other end where it bolts to the frame.
Good Luck!
any solid connection on the motor will work, the closer to the starter the better,
that is the electrical path flow, lots of amps going to the starter. 69VETT
