Anyone Supercharged???
Jim
Mine came from Whipple with both the screen and two perfectly fitting K&N oiled cotton filters. You can rig something up like a Cobra setup, but why bother? A lot of the Vettes and Camaros used the cowl type hood to take advantage of the high pressure area in front of the windshield. With an L88 hood, there's a massive inlet for air at the rear of the hood. Here's a picture of the air filter on the throttle body. The left has the screen and the right has the K&N.

They must have noobie techs. Yes - the throttle is on the passenger side, but compared to all the other mods you do when you're putting EFI on a Vette Rod, it's pretty minor. I put a Lokar throttle cable on it and it works great. I couldn't fit a Whipple under the stock hood because the front of the unit is just a tad too high. I opted for the L88 style hood and have a good 2 inches of clearance now.
It's hard to describe how much fun it is to drive the Vette now with a supercharged engine! Hit the throttle and the seat just slams you from behind...

Here are approximate diminsions from the front. It's probably about the same for a small block. I didn't bother with an intercooler, but I am running EFI to keep the height down.

It's a clean setup but I would argue that those K&N's are restrictive at that size. Do you notice a difference in response with only the screens on? Have you dynoed yet, and if so, did you try a run with screens only as opposed to having the filters on? Maybe the numbers are so good that the restriction doesn
t matter much.

I have a GM 350 RamJet right now with efi and such, so install wouldn't require too much work with my current EFI, fuel lines, passenger throttle, etc already in place. What fuel controller are you using with the magna or whipple?

This my 76 with a 496 and a Weiand 8-71 blower.
Steering changed to rack and pinion and a remote powersteering reservoir and monoleaf front spring suspension.
De Witt radiator with 2 electric fans one that starts with the engine and one that kicks in at 185 degrees.
Is for sure a attention grabber where ever i go with it.

The 3/4" hoses coming in right under the red intake bridge hose.

I modified a Coolant Tank with 2 AN fittings welded on and use it for the Intercooler tank and behind it is the overflow tank. In my case it's right behind the passenger side wheelwell. I run DexCool 50/50 in the Intercooler.

You can't see it but the Intercooler pump is down in the right front corner just off to the side of the passenger headlight (under the red towel). I actually ran the return hose through the inner fender and up to the pump.

The air intercooler itself just fit between the Aluminum radiator and the A/C condenser. In this pic you can see it tucked down in there. Wth the Aluminum rad, the A/C going, the Intercooler going, and a Hot summer day, the most the motor ever gets up to is the 195 max then the temp send kicks on both fans. It ussualy averages between 185-190.
