The blower fan on my 71 big block quit....I can't find it although I know it is on the passenger side. The car is equipped with AC. If anyone knows where it's located please advise!
This thread could help you. The blower motor is just on the left of the heater core, hidden under the passenger fender.
It can be removed alone without removing the whole heater/distributor box :
Great found it.. Do I take the fender off to get at this thing or am I
missing some other easy way to get at this? The only fuse for this
I believe is at the panel correct? I would would hate to pull the fan
motor when it's just a fuse.
Thanks for all the help..
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
There ARE 3 special bolts that release the fender to get to the blower motor. BUT.... you need to know the secret password and secret handshake to learn where they are.
Checking the fuse first is a wise move! Good Luck!

Alan
If you want to test the motor, run a test power wire to the terminal on the motor and see if it runs. If it runs the motor is probably fine and you have a power wire issue. Make sure you put this test wire on the motor power terminal and not the ground terminal under one of the screws.
If the motor fails to run, leave the power wire in the motor and run a ground to the ground terminal on the motor. If it runs, you have a ground problem.
You need to remove the right fender vent to gain access. There is a 3/8" nut on the stud sticking down from the bottom-middle of the vent (there is a gap in the framework you can just reach up into with one hand). Remove that nut, then remove the two Philips screws under the top lip of the vent; pull top outward to clear fender, then lift vent up and out. If you have A/C, it's still a 'bear' to get that blower motor out...but it can be rotated and wiggled to get past the plumbing. Be sure that you have a clean, unpainted area for getting the ground wire connected well. Good luck.
You've all been a great help but I still haven't found my problem. What I did is I ran a wire direct from the positive battery to the power on the blower motor....the motor runs fine. The fuse is good in the fuse box. Where could the problem be? Could it be the switch?
Has anyone worked on the starter area recently?? if so, there is a black ~10 ga wire that belongs on the ground of the engine, not the + on the battery post wire/solenoid......
common mistake, which is why my ground for the heater blower and WSW motor, and relay is on top of the engine where it belongs....
