A trickle charger is not the same as the Battery Tender or Battery Minder. Don't get a trickle charger.
Also, make sure you have a battery quick disconnect so the vehicle is electrically isolated. That way I can't see how any electrical fault with the house could affect the vehicle, you won't have any parasitic drain and less chance of an electrical fire with the car.
