Hi everyone and thanks for reading. I have a 70 convertible and since getting it back on the road I never put interior bulbs in. Well I put bulbs in today and the lights would not turn off, I checked the headlight switch and it is not turned on to interior lights. Looking for help to diagnous the problem. Where do I start? Door ajar switch or courtesy/alarm switch? don't know. Help.... I am getting power to all 3 courtesy lights.
The courtesy lights have power all the time , the headlight switch and the door switches provide a ground so the bulbs will light. The white wires are the ground wires, if any of the whites are grounded the bulbs will light.
As mentioned above the door(jamb) switches are probably at fault.
Hi CFD,
Have you tried pushing the plunger on the switches with the doors open to see if that turns the lights off? Some times the switches need to be turned out a couple of threads to make sure the door pushes the plunger far enough.
Regards,
Alan

Don't some of the years use a piece of rubber between the door and the plunger or is that the door ajar switches ?
Thanks ...Roger... Yes you are correct the rubber spacer pad is on the car but that is for the Door Ajar Switch. Thanks for the earlier reply I checked the switches today in jams and apear to be working, I'm going to be upluging them this weekend to check if ground is still active. The white wire check was a help.
