To be honest, you can't unless there is original documentation with the car. The build sheet may or may not still be on the fuel tank. If some or part of it is still there, what you find may not be legible.
Copies of build sheets have been found tucked in the wiring behind the speedo/tach; tucked in the wiring behind the center cluster; tucked in the springs under a seat; behind either kick panel; and under the carpet in the rear compartment. It's hit or miss. I did not find a copy of the build sheet for my '68 in any of the locations listed.

You're looking for something like this on the top of your tank.
There are clues that indicate whether the car was a BB or SB car, but those can be changed. So the build sheet (tank sticker) is the best indication how the car was optioned when it left St. Louis. The kicker is that there's NO VIN on the sheet so it's not 100% proof positive.
The last picture is the window sticker... it has the option information and the build squence number. The kicker here is that there are VERY few original stickers around.
