kinda dissaponted in this place they told me id get a belt with my under drive pulley and that did come, they said the flex plate and adapter was gonna be flat and the GM spacer which it isnt... i feel like returning everything and just using my stock flex with a spacer.
I used the hughes flex plate and adapter... had no issues. Even worked with my LS3

I would guess they are... C5 and C6 cars are very close.

however... I would use F-body stuff. Keep in mind the Crank pulleys and accessories are different from trucks to F-body and corvettes.

Spacing varies on all these... basically corvette pulley system... be sure to get a corvette underdrive pulley. F-body pulley is slightly further out... more so with truck stuff.

I found out the hard way.

thanks for the feed back on the flex plate i wasnt sure if i had to use it or return it. i looks so similar to my own in size and thickness.

as far as the pulley goes. I picked up an under drive pulley for an c5 corvette. I want everything to be up close to the engine so i can have room to work if i need to. I got an F body water pump ( which i hear is the same as a corvettes) and now just needing the brackets. if the c6 are the same then i wouldnt have to worry...ill see how much hes asking then see if its worth the risk.

Just out of curisosity... i got this engine from a guy who pulled it form a 04 avalanche or something... i didnt hear it run...how would i make sure the engine isnt messed up?
as far as i can see visually no oil leaks any where all the gaskets and seals seem to be very good. Guy seemed very trust worthy but im being paranoid wanna know.

To check the engine- a compression test is a good start. You can rent the compression tester at any parts store.

Oil pressure is important also... not sure how to check that on a LS motor??? Old school motors (GENI) you could use a hand drill... to check oil pump.

Careful with matching pulleys accessories water pumps and such from different cars.

And are you using a Corvette Bat wing pan? If so I can't help you there.

I have a compression tester, but how can u check it with out cranking the engine?

i found an f body pan should be on its way soon. far as the accessory go only thing thats going to be fbody is the water pump.
ill give gm a call an ask if the brackets are inner changeable.

i know this might be a dumb question...but how do u use the ls1 adapter plates? im a little confused where they bolt up.

The adapter plates allow to use the original SBC style motor mounts.

Bolt the adapter plates to the engine, then bolt the motor mounts to the adapter plate. Depending on which adapter plates you picked up, the lower bolt hole may be shared.

After that is is just a matter of dropping the engine in using the standard axe and crowbar technique.

fuel rails are easily trimmed.... pretty thin plastic.

They should all fit with your LS1 intake. It bolts to the coil pack... with trucks coils I m not sure if the holes are the same. But should be easy to adjust with a drill. :-)

Took Holley505 advice and picked up a cam and springs. Its from an 04 z06 with only 15k.

I got the car all jacked up and drained of fluids. removed the headers( which is unbolted and refusing to come out..stupid long tubes.)

got my oil pan yesterday but no windage tray had to order that.

after cleaning, threw on a few (6) coats of black semi gloss paint.

and ended up pullin the oil pan waiting on my tray...

hopeful tm ill put the cam in...gotta youtube how its done to make sure i dont mess up.

I assume you're referring to the LQ pulley. A wheel puller should do it.
When puttung it back on, use the old bolt to make sure the pully is seated. Then use a new bolt and torque to spec.
BTW, you can unbolt the torque converter from the flexplate to prevent a few quarts of ATF from running all over the floor.

thanks garys68
ive been using the old bolt but it seems like the puller bolt that you tighten down keeps slipping. im thinking im gonna have to drill a small dimple in the old bolt so it keeps place with out wondering.
I didnt know about the torque converter.
today im planing out smoothing out the engine bay and re painting it. i know some people use fiberglass and bondo what else are my choices? which works better?

Your radiatir will work fine if it worked ok before.
The LQ water pump outlet will hiy the DBW TB on your LS1 intake. You'll need an LS1 WP.
As far as the fans, most people use duals. You've got several options. There is actually a pinout for electric fans on all the truck computers I've seen, even if the truck came without an electric. Just have it programmed to work.
There is a pinout for AC recirculation door that others have used for an additional fan.
On my aftermarket Vintage Air, I used a trinary switch to trigger the fan in addition to the computer fan pinout.
